OMOYELE SOWORE AND SAMBO DASUKI WERE RELEASED BASED ON THE RULE OF LAW, OBEDIENCE TO COURT ORDERS AND ON COMPASSIONATE GROUNDS --- ABUBAKAR MALAMI

What makes people inhuman is the inability to engage their brains in effective and fruitful reasoning. It is painfully disappointing to hear from the so-called Attorney General of Nigeria and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, that there existed no pressure whatsoever either from home or abroad, on the federal government that necessitated the eventual release of both Omoyele Sowore and Sambo Dasuki from detention. The Minister who spoke to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa Language and on Hausa Service of the Voice of America, stated that the Nigerian government released the duo on compassionate grounds. "The only reason for the release of Omoloye Sowore and Sambo Dasuki revolved around our commitment to the rule of law, obedience to court orders and on compassionate grounds", he maintained. Anyone who can posit that the government of the All Progressive Congress (APC) knows what the rule of law or what court order means, is either psychologically diseased or does not exist in this world. It is not surprising to hear from someone like Abubakar Malami, making such a deranged statement because that forms part of his dirty job description. What else could be expected from an almajiri lawyer that studied Sharia law and operates within the domain of Civil/English Legal System? What a pity!

It is a shame for a public figure entrusted with dignifying responsibility to publicly utter such words. If a legal practitioner of his caliber could pointedly state that obeying valid court orders stemmed from compassion, it then shows that he was not qualified in the first place to be called a lawyer. He deserves being barred from the profession. This man in his bid to massage the evil intents of his masters, has forgotten that the law of karma yet exists. It is a destructive rape on the judiciary and a disgrace to humanity.  He has rightly confirmed that the Fulani/APC cabals in Aso Rock, definitely have no regard to the rule of law. This is the more reason why the Department of Security Services (DSS) is directly answerable only to the executive arm of the Nigerian government and not to a court of competent jurisdiction if they yet exists any. The Nigerian judiciary can only bark, lacking the biting instinct and potency.

It is quite unfortunate that the APC cum Buhari led Nigerian government disobeys court orders at will. Omoloye Sowore and Sambo Dasuki would have been released long before now when the clamour for their freedom from DSS detention facilities previously came on. But they were defiantly held in dungeon due to the blatant refusal of the Islamic fundamentalists in Aso Rock until the interventionist pressures of the United States government and other international bodies. It is noteworthy to state here that right from the inception of this government in Nigeria in 2015, court  orders have consistently remained disregarded especially with regards to the case involving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and then Sambo Dasuki, Olisa Metuh, amongst others yet being incarcerated. If not the outside pressures that prompted the latest release, then why now since no court recently ordered their release? What therefore transpired, clearly evidenced that APC government totally lacks the tenets of civilised democracy. Government officials and their agents are just using the system as a shadow to perpetuate military-despotic policies.

Laws are not obeyed and lawyers are being terrorized. The government peddle lies and deception without shame, thriving in blame games and denials. Abubakar Malami's leprous claim of obeying the rule of law and court orders is tantamount to saying that the APC government is corrupt-free or better still, that late Abacha's regime knew no corruption. Abubakar Malami and the APC federal government should be advised to go and carefully study what the rule of law and obeying court order really means in a democracy. It is the citizens that owns the final say and so the government should imbibe humbly, the culture of civility in dealing with  the people in every ramification.
