BIAFRANS HAVE BECOME A MONEY MAKING VENTURE FOR THE NIGERIAN SECURITY FORCES IN IGWEOCHA

The secret abduction of Biafran youths by the combined team of Nigerian security forces on daily bases has reached it's crescendo. It is now a phenomenal routine, that the Nigeria security agencies are determined to make Biafran youths in Biafraland and in Igweocha in particular, a business venture hence, the incessant and illicit arrests that have continued unabated with unfounded allegations against them. Some of these Biafrans are being kidnapped by the Nigerian security apparatus from their homes, market places, even in the streets of Biafraland for no justifiable reasons and in most cases are held incommunicado without assess to a legal practitioner, family members and even health care facilities.

Not too long ago, some IPOB youths were illegally abducted and unlawfully incarcerated by the members of the Nigerian police in Okporo Divisional Police Station in Igweocha, Biafraland. But after some fearless Biafrans in the area raised alarm and staged a protest rally in front of the police station against the unwarranted and illegal abduction cum incarceration of Biafra activists held in the station, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) has no choice than to release those held without further delay.

However, there seems to be no slowing down or deterrent by the Nigerian security forces like the police, Army, SARS and even recently the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement agency has joined the league in carrying out this despicable act of illicit arrest. On 6th August, 2017, the IPOB coordinator of Unit 7 under Igweocha Rumuodara Artillery zone was secretly and illegally abducted by the Nigerian drug agency and was accused of unfounded "drug intake". It has become a norm for the security apparatus to arrest Biafrans and levied frivolous allegations on them as an avenue of money extortion. This act has continued unabated with a huge number of Biafrans falling victim and are in various prison cells across Igweocha and other parts of Biafraland. Biafrans are now living in fear in their own land and at the mercy of the Nigerian security apparatus.

However, a team of IPOB zonal coordinators in Igweocha led by Mazi Samuel Nzeh, swong into action in order secure the release of one of them after hearing the ugly incident that befell the victim. But surprising to the IPOB executives that went to the station, the drug agency cleared the victim as being innocent and acquitted him of the alleged crime but refused to discharge or release him, instead demanded that IPOB must pay a whopping amount of Hundred Thousand Naira only (#100.000) so long as he has been in their custody and has been detained. Therefore, until that money is paid to the drug agency, the victim will not be released albeit being innocent even as till date the victim is still in the drug agency's net.

Meanwhile, this unfortunate incident left IPOB youths in Igweocha with no other option than to organise a peaceful rally on 18th August, 2017 in protest against the Nigerian Drug Agency in Artillery Igweocha because it is a crime to abandon their own. The peaceful rally which was led by Igweocha deputy national coordinator Mazi Otegwa William and Mazi Samuel Nzeh kicked off at Rumuodara junction to the office of the Nigerian Drug Agency in Artillery hence, became a festival of bullets as the combined team of the Nigerian security forces arrived the scene, seeing how resolute and fearless Biafrans were, started shooting sporadically, teargased and arrested many, leaving a good number of Biafrans with gun shot wounds and various degrees of life threatening injuries. However, four (4) of IPOB members that were part of the rally went missing and was not sighted anywhere as their whereabouts were unknown to both IPOB and their family members until news filtered after some days as to their whereabouts. The team of combined Nigerian security forces like the SARS, police and Army that committed such an atrocious crime without any provocation were drafted from Mini Okoro division, Okporo division and Elimgbu divisional police stations and they came to the rally ground in eight (8) hillux vans.

Meanwhile, the indefatigable leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu when heard of what happened took a decisive action to make sure that those that were arrested during the rally are released unconditionally. IPOB legal team however, went to Okporo police station for the release of those men but were told that they had been transferred to the state CID. However, as a result of the relentless efforts of IPOB legal team, they were released unconditionally on 19th August, 2017. But before their unconditional release from illegal detention, they have been brutalized and injured by the Nigerian police. Those that were unconditionally released are as follows; Mazi Samuel Nzeh who hails from Abia state, Mazi Aja Ndukwe from Enugu state, Mazi Bright Ihenko from Abia state, Mazi Philip Archibong Dan from Akwa-Ibom state and Mazi Sunday Agbor from Cross River state all in Biafraland.
