Vote or risk state of emergency, Nigerian Senator threatens Anambra residents

Vote or risk state of emergency, Nigerian Senator threatens Anambra residents
Stella Oduah

The senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah, has urged residents of Anambra State to come out in large numbers to exercise their constitutional mandate in the November 18 governorship election in the state or face the consequences.

Ms. Oduah made this call while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Sunday, according to a statement from her office.
The former Aviation Minister who withdrew from the PDP governorship primary which produced Oseloka Obaze as the party’s flag bearer, stressed that irrespective of political affiliation, interest of the state comes first.
She noted that failure to exercise franchise in the forthcoming election will lead to the declaration of state of emergency in the state.

This is coming as the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, asked Anambra residents to boycott Anambra Election come Saturday the 18th of Nov 2017.
IPOB marched around some streets in Onitsha on Friday, asking Anambra residents to boycott Saturday's election.
Reacting to this however, Ms. Oduah warned Anambra residents of the consequences of ignoring the polls.

“Our constitution does not allow for half a minute space between the incumbent tenure being over and the next tenure,” she said.
“Therefore if we fail to come out and cast our vote to have a new governor, what will happen is that the Federal Government will provide an administrator and declare a state of emergency.

“It means that democracy will elude us, the administrator that would be governing us would not be who we voted for or who we desire; that is not what we want.

  3. Let there be state of emergency in Anambra State. Nigeria is already in the state of emergency. By the way, I didn't know that Senator Stella Oduah is such an illiterate. None of these idiots and political prostitutes of Hausa-Fulani has spoken against the boko haram army massacre at the family home of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his whereabouts today. None has spoken about the vandalization done by the illiterate Nigerian soldiers at the royal palace of his father. None of these cowards have spoken about the rape and killings being perpetrated in Igboland by Fulani herdsmen. None of these fools have spoken against the fascist and repressive government of Buhari. There no true leaders in Igboland and that's why they are sooooo scared of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB. There will be no election in Anambra. Let the federal government do their worst.

  4. What is the fear for Mrs. Stella, the country is already in a state of emergency. There are no credible candidates to be voted for in this election and future elections in this country. Go and tell them that in Abuja.

  5. Stella, you are wasting your time.we biafrans said no referendum in Biafra land no election. Even at the present of obiano, Anambra and the rest of Biafra land are already in the state of emergency since 1966. Indigenous people are kill by soldiers for no justifiable reason but no one, even the governors could say anything nor hold Federal government responsible.
