ALLEGED MASSACRE AND SECRET BURIAL OF OVER A THOUSAND NIGERIAN SOLDIERS MUST BE INVESTIGATED
The trending news concerning the tragic massacre of over one thousand Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram terrorists and their secret burial by Nigerian military authorities, call for serious concern. It is most barbaric and insulting that the Nigerian government through the gross incompetence of the Army Chief of Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, could orchestrate such a dastardly act of depriving the victims, their rights of heroic honor and respect.
One could also not imagine the emotional torture family members of the soldiers could be going through as a result of this. The allegation floated by the embattled opposition presidential flagbearer in the last general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed the height of security risk the Nigerian soldiers face in combating Boko Haram insurgency. This spate of insecurity especially within the North-East region of the country, has claimed the lives of over one thousand Nigerian military combatants. The only thing that the military authorities could do was to hurriedly order a secret burial at night for their slain.
This came on the heels of the boastful incompetence of an unprofessional army which publicly stated that it has defeated the dreaded Islamic terror organisation, few weeks earlier. It is saddening therefore, to learn that the irrational, bogus and hypocritical claim by the Nigerian authorities which seem to have lost every sense of sincerity, security consciousness and professionalism, decided to criminally conceal through the army, the most horrendous carnage to be recorded in present day military engagements. They are shamelessly lying through their teeth, deceiving and misleading the very masses they are paid to protect and defend.
However, the truth remains that the British contrapted Nigeria, by reason of this disgusting development, has been thrown into yet another big mess once again before the civilized global community. The Nigerian army that is bereft of truth and discipline, will yet scheme lies to try to deny and hide this atrocious crime. It is glaringly obvious to sane minds that this revelation is not far from reality. This of course is what is expected when thousands of captured Boko Haram terrorists are being randomly released and integrated on regular basis into the Nigerian army on the order of the presidency, contrarily shameful an act, to what obtains elsewhere in the world.
The international community and especially the government of the United States of America should hold President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet solely responsible for politicizing the Nigerian security apparatus for his Islamic fundamentalist interests. There should be an unbiased international interventionist investigation or inquiry pertaining this tragic and nauseating development within the Nigerian armed forces. The trail behind the persistent importation of foreign Islamic terrorists and weapons into the country and giving such blatant executive protection by the APC/Buhari led federal government, must also be appropriately investigated. While Fulani orchestrated ethnic cleansing of indigenous nationalities continues unabated, this medium serves as a veritable channel, of issuing out a definitive protest message to Biafrans yet serving in the Nigerian army to immediately resign their appointments as a matter of urgency or better still, have themselves to blame in the light of the looming catastrophe.
