ISIS hacks Australian airport website with threatening message to Israel

The website of Hobart International Airport was replaced with a pro-Islamic-State message; The airport's operations were not affected.
Islamic State hackers managed to take down a small Australian airport's website on Sunday, replacing the site with a threatening message.

According to the Australian Broadcast Corporation, on Sunday around 3:00 a.m. local time, the website of Hobart International Airport in Tasmania was hacked by a group calling itself Team System DZ.

The airport website was replaced with a threatening pro-Islamic-State message set on a black background. In the corner was a black-and-white picture of an Islamic State member. At the top, the message read "I am Muslim & I love jihad/ I love ISIS"

"Islamic State will restore dignity for Muslims[,] Will purge the land of the Muslims from the "hypocrites infidels." The message went on to threaten "to equip you to dwell in cemeteries."

At the bottom of the message, written in red letters, was "F**k USA & Israel."

The website was out of commission for a number of hours and the site's owners managed to eventually replace the menacing post with a simple apology for the site being down and recommending that passengers check the websites of individual airlines for flight information.

Police noted that no threats were made to the airport itself and operations were not affected by the website hack whatsoever.

By Monday afternoon, the website was restored and running normally.

The airport said in a statement that it was reviewing its website security as the Australian Federal Police continue their investigation of the incident.
