Open letter to Biafrans- We must stand United!

Open letter to Biafrans- We must stand United!
By Okonkwo Isaac Somto
(For Family Writers)

Biafrans we have come a very long way in the struggle for self-determination. We have made sacrifices, we have lost love ones in the hands of the British-Nigeria Government. We saw millions of our Fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters slaughtered like animals in the name of keeping Nigeria together. We have witnessed the outcome of the hatred that surrounds us. We are surrounded by people who disperse us, people who would rather see us die in birth, than see us live to succeed. We have also been deprived of our rights and privileges under the Government called Nigeria. We really have come a long way, in the mist of all these injustice, hatred, killing and suffering, that is why I urge us to come together as one and stay united, for the desire of a better tomorrow.

A tomorrow so bright and shiny, that our enemies will rather see us stay enslaved in this contrivance, called Nigeria. We ought to stand as one, in other to survive in the midst of so many hatred and wickedness directed towards us. We also have to obliterate the lies in our memories, that the Nigeria Government wants us to believe amongst ourselves, lies that say we don't love ourselves and can't live together. Those are cooked up lies, lies created to manipulate and confine us in this servitude, enslavement and exploitation called Nigeria. Israel is surrounded by enemies and yet they are living strong and united. So who says Biafrans can't live together and stay united? Yes we can! The Nigeria government have taken a lot from us already, they took everything we had after the civil war, they killed us in millions, took our homes, properties, lands, families, and also tried to take Hope from us, by leaving us to start all over again without nothing to build on, they left us for dead but we stayed strong and survived. We did start over again, but we struggled and suffered a lot to get back on track.

We remained determined, courageous, strong and bold, that we took all those who left us for dead by surprise. We came back more blessed, dominant and prosperous than we were before the civil war. We dominated Nigeria once again and created new homes across Nigeria. Some of us returned back to the north, to the very place our people were massacred and killed unjust fully. We started to create a new life there and lived amongst the same people who were hostile towards us, resented us and massacred. I often ask myself this question-why would Biafrans do that? Why would they even think of going outside the shores of their lands, after everything that happened? Why would they go back to the same people who antagonism and slaughtered them? I came to this conclusion, that Biafrans are kind, loving, hard-working and very forgiving people.

Some of you may disagree but ask yourself this question, how many Northerners and westerners have major properties in the Eastern region? How many Yoruba’s and Hausa-Fulani’s will boost of a major investment in the Eastern region? How many of you can boldly say, Yes without the Igbos, places like Lagos, kwara, ibadan, kano, kaduna, jos, etc. would have had such a rapid development and better infrastructures? Well it’s not their fault that Biafrans left their lands and came to invest and develop other parts of Nigeria, all in the earmark and epithet of one Nigeria. Biafrans, how long would you continue to live like this? It’s time to go home; we have done enough for the Nigerian government. We have given them our wealth, our lives, our blood and our sweat, what more do they want from us? The British-Nigeria government will continue to keep us as slaves in the proffer and bid for One-Nigeria.

We Biafrans are blessed by God almighty to be dominant, fruitful and prosperous, wherever we find ourselves. But we must not forget, our adversary and foes, don't want our betterment or growth, they don't like to see us buoyant and joyous, all they want from us is for us to live in lack, poverty and in hardship. That is why I plead with us to come together in this fight for freedom. We can achieve the Biafra Dream. We can create a better country for ourselves, a country that will ensure a better future for our generations to come. Nigeria don't want us, they never did, they don't love or care about us. All they care about is the resources they can steal in Biafran lands. All this pandemonium and projection of one Nigeria is just mere propaganda, to keep us as slaves in this British-abomination called Nigeria.

The British-Nigeria Government know that we are formidable and more than capable of creating a very great country that will be a salvation for us and redemption for Africa, that is why they are fighting so hard to prevent us from standing united. Because they know that once we stand very strong and united, we will be a force to reckon with. They fear us so much that they will rather kill us, instead letting us go alive. Biafrans, this is a call for us to stand united and stand as one body in the fight for our freedom. Let’s put our differences aside and stand united. Don't think about the benefits you have now, think about the future you can create for your generations to come. There is no place like home, Nigeria is not a place where we can live in assurance that our lives and properties are safe, there is no guarantee that the future of our children and generation to come will be free from such hatred and evil, No Biafran is safe as long as we remain in Nigeria.

This is the Truth! We were never meant to live together with our enemies. Why didn't Britain live together with Iranians or Americans with Afghanistan’s or Israel with the Palestinians, or Indian with Pakistanis? Why is Biafrans any different? The British governments forcefully made us live with the same people who rape our daughters, kill our sons and murder us in our sleep. The same people who hate the very air that we are breathing and would stop at nothing to seize that air. Biafra is our opportunity for a better tomorrow, not just for you and me, but for our generation to come. So please my fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, let's come together and stand united for a better tomorrow. We started a peaceful protest for our freedom; we have matched in millions, and some our brothers and sisters have been killed in the process, others arrested and jailed. The Nigeria government thinks they can intimidate us by killing us or looking for saboteurs amongst to try and sabotage our freedom.

It won’t work, killing us won’t stop us, looking for saboteurs won’t affect us because Biafra has been ordained by God almighty and will come to pass. And please, Biafrans living in the north it’s time to come back home, please leave the north, for your own interest. So therefore, we will finish what we have started, we will continue to march and protest for our freedom and the freedom our brother, Nnamdi Kanu. For our brothers and sisters who have dead in this movement, we thank them for their heroism, they will not be forgotten, for those who are still held in the Nigeria prisons, we will fight for your freedom and also for those wounded and injured brutally, we will take good care of you. And for our fellow Biafrans who haven't joined this movement yet, please endeavor to join, Biafra is our only hope, and it can’t be destroyed because Biafra is an ideology. Nigeria will promise you heaven and earth just to keep you in this contraption (The devil will always give you gifts but will collect it back in hundred folds) don’t listen to their villainous lies, it will only end up in pains and tears. Please Biafrans, know that United we stand but divided we fall. So let’s stand united and we will get to the land together (ISE). Thank you and God bless.
