Rumours Over Arms Build-up In South-East, Niger Delta

Rumours Over Arms Build-up In South-East, Niger Delta

A report by New Telegraph indicates that there is a secret arms build-up in the South east and South south regions of Nigeria.

The report quotes a highly placed security official who said the federal government was ‘worried and concerned’ over the situation in both regions.

The source said: “Some practical and strategic steps have to be taken immediately to circumvent these growing concerns if the government must make any meaningful progress to deliver on its promises to the people.”

While the source blamed what he called “miscalculated security steps on the part of some agencies” for some of the avoidable concerns, he however said direct engagement with concerned stakeholders in the affected areas is in the pipeline.

The source also said fresh security ‘persuasions’ have been tabled before President Muhammadu Buhari to have a holistic review of the government’s stance on certain issues.

He cited the charges against the director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and the recent invitation of ex-militant warlord in the Niger Delta, Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) as the reasons for the arms build-up.

He said: “Some of us have cause to believe that most of the steps taken security wise in the last six months have been ill-advised and avoidable. We have no reason to be in the news that some MASSOB and IPOB members have been abducted or seized by the military.

“Also, we have no reason to detain for so long, an inconsequential Kanu to the extent that he has become a central point in the ethnic and regional agitations in the East. So, the young man has to be allowed to go. This is not to talk of the EFCC’s miscalculation by inviting Tompolo at this time.

“Perhaps, some persons have forgotten that the pain of the loss of Goodluck Jonathan in the last presidential poll still lingers and once you play into the hands of these people, the nation might feel the heat with red eyes. So, we cannot afford to toy with such things.

“We understand that there are some political forces inciting such moves, but some of us have made persuasive moves to the president to allow the sleeping dog to rest rather than stirring up troubled waters that may have collateral damages on the economy. We can’t try that in the face of the consequences inherent in this.

“Government is very much aware of this development and the reasons behind some of these provocative moves are what baffle some of us. For instance, there are intelligence reports of how ex-militants took over the electoral process in Bayelsa state.

“It is not as if they love the governor there, they are merely rehearsing with the election to do the ultimate and the avalanche of weapons is a source of concern and worry.”

When contacted, Information and Culture Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said he could not comment on the issues raised by our correspondent on the telephone.

“Please I cannot make any comment on these issues you have raised; I don’t want to be misquoted on any of the issues please,” he said.

Meanwhile Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has called on religious leaders in Nigeria to appeal to those agitating for a republic of Biafra to let peace reign in the region.

  1. To get Biafra, we need to change our current strategy. Nonviolence will never give us Biafra. NWO, New World Order is after Biafra. As a matter of urgency we need to allign with countries who are against this NWO agenda and Russia is number one and then China. Fellow Biafrans time is not on our side.

    1. I totally agree with you. China and Russia will be very important in this struggle so as to enable us come out from this British imposed Fulani terrorists, who (Britain and allies) will do everything for to keep this evil state going for as long as they can.
I believe by the latest development in the world, that Russia will never support Nigeria again militarily.

Although China during the genocidal war came in late was on record for saying it was a gang up by the imperialists to destroy Biafra and her people for daring to ask for their freedom and etermination.

So IPOB and all of us should continuously work very hard to ensure China and Russia fully keys into this struggle. It is a must or we'll be giving the British government license to commit another genocide. We all know how extremely evil these people are

    2. you are right, non-violence won't help Biafra campaign, if the NWO are against it... the FG must be put under-pressure, also a full on war will not help either, but attacks on FG public officers and facilities (Attack the money, influential political figures) and you scare them.
it's been 45 years since the war and Nigeria remains failed country, breaking it up is the logical solution.

    3. For the first time, I have seen talk very reasonably on the biafra issue. Note;freedom doesn't come without a fight as concerned Tue new world order. Biafra needs to build up arms, forces with sworn enemies of the new world order like Russian, China Korea. Also try to get necessary support from our own African opposer of the western imperialism, Robert Mugabe.
He who dines with the devil goes for longer spoon.
Even if it take s signing treaty with them with the availability natural resources for a reasonable period of time. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

  7. The Biafrans must recruit designers of rockets and missiles because Buhari is a british lackey and has been positioned by the British to kill fellow blacks with the weapons the British will be giving him. This means they are preparing for war. Buhari is a complete British lackey with no brain of his own and we must plan with missiles such that before he completes his British engineered massacre of fellow blacks, he is taken out with a locally designed surface to air missile. The signs are clear that Buhari is murderous and being remotely used by the British.

  11. THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN(national anthem)
land of the rising sun,we love and cherish,be-love homeland of our brave heroes;we must defend our lives or we shall perish
we shall protect our hearth from all our foes, but if the price is death for all,for all we hold dear then let us die without a shred of fear.

    Hail to biafra,consecrated nation
Oh,father land, this is our solemn pledge, defending thee shall be a dedication, spilling our blood we will count a privilege
The wailing slender which embolden the free shall always be our flag of liberty.

We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal and through crucible unscathed we will pass
When we are poised the wound of battle to heal,we shall remember those who died in mass

    Oh God,protect us from the hidden pit fall,guide all our movement least we go astray,give us the strength to heed the humanist call "to give and not count the cost" each day;
Bless those who rule to serve with resoluteness to make this clime a land of righteousness

  12. In the latest blasts two bombers struck a market in the town of Madagali in Adamawa state. In neighbouring Borno state, several attacks in Maiduguri killed more than 30 people and injured over 100.
Yet last week, Nigeria's leader who cannot withstand them, only have strength said On my People, told us the BIGGEST LIE EVER TOLD that the war against Islamist Boko Haram militants had been "technically won".
The attacks are being blamed on the group.

Boko Haram has proved that they can still inflict widespread destruction.
