12-MAN COMMITTEE SET-UP BY NIGERIAN DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS IS A SCAM

THE 12-MAN COMMITTEE SET-UP BY NIGERIAN DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS IS A SCAM

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has set up committee on human rights with a clear goal to independently verify all the allegations of human rights violations levelled against the personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the discharge of their functions across the country. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, while inaugurating the 12-man committee in Abuja on the 21th of March 2016, charged them to dispassionately look into various human rights issues which hinge on the conduct of the troops in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

THE IRONY OF LIFE: How can those who are the perpetrators, be the ones to investigate their own crimes? How can the guilty who is been investigated be made the leading investigator of his\her own atrocities? Where is it done, that those who should be questioned and trialed, are now the ones asking the questions and conducting the trial? Who is fooling who? How can the DHQ setup a 12-man committee to investigate their own barbaric acts against human right law? Where is the justice in that?

Olonisakin further stated that in furtherance of the DHQ’s commitment to demonstrate their resolve to the protection of human rights, it became necessary to task independent minded individuals to examine the conduct of the military operations. It is on this premise, he noted, that each member of the committee was invited to look into the complaints of human rights abuses leveled against the military.

Firstly, The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, must be a clown to think that we are buying into this nonsense been uttered by them. How can you appoint your follow offenders to now be the judge and the jury over their own case where is that done? How can they examine their conduct of military operations, when the person who ordered the genocidal killing of this group of people is their own boss, the commander of the Nigeria Armed Forces, Mohammadu Buhari? So show me, where is the commitment in that? Why must everything that has to do with the Nigeria government always end up in deceit, pretence, corruption and injustice?

Secondly, the president of Nigeria, Buhari, should know that these games he's playing won't go on for long. He knows too well that his offence against Human right law is massive, therefore he's trying to use the so-called 12-man committee crab, to deceive people and exonerate his government of human right abuses. He is fully aware, that the attention of The International Human rights law is now directed towards his government. What Buhari is trying to achieve with this 12-man committee is not justice rather trying to cover-up his tracks.

Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin also “urged the committee to expand their focus beyond the North East, to also include other areas of contention including the issues emanating from clashes with the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and Rivers State election rerun amongst others.”

As you can see, the so-called committee on human rights which was meant solemnly for the North-East of Nigeria was suddenly given the mandate to operate elsewhere in Nigeria, a camouflage to shift the attention of the public and the ICC from the upcoming criminal prosecution of Lt-Gen Buratai, Muhammadu Buhari, Solomon Ehigiator Arase, and other perpetrators of the massacre of defenceless Biafrans which set out seven (7) weeks after the swearing-in of Buhari as Nigeria’s president. A massacre that has resulted to the death of over 3000 Biafrans, in Nine months that Buhari came into office. How possible is it for General Olonisakin to point at any report in the public domain from any committee that was set up to probe any of the killings in Biafraland?

Take a look at some of the so-called list of the 12-man committee:

Commodore O.O Olawumi (Rtd), Group Captain J.P Musa (Rtd), and Directors of Legal Services from the Ministry of Defence, Army, Airforce and Navy, Director Coordination DHQ Air, Commodore O.O Akinsanya; representative of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mrs. Juliet Ibekaku; representative of National Human Rights Commission, Mr. Harry Ogwuche Obe; representative of Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Mr Bello Diram and Col. O.N Taiwo as the committee secretary.

The committee is mainly miscellanea of retired members of Nigerian military and some in house mates How laughable to bring back trusted puppets to do Buhari's bidding. This is just a stunt to dismay the attention of the public. The fund that was invested to setup up this fake committee is another dubious way to steal public funds.

If the The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin and the commander in chief of the Nigeria armed forces, Mohammadu Buhari sincerely and genuinely want justice on behalf of the innocent lives wasted by the genocidal acts committed by the Nigeria Armed forces, they should therefore invite the International Human rights committee, ICC investigating Team down to Nigeria to investigate this acts themselves. Anything other than this is just NONSENSE!
