BIAFRA : HAS OUR PEACEFUL APPROACH TURNS TO BE FOOLISHNESS?

BIAFRA :  HAS OUR PEACEFUL APPROACH TURNS TO BE FOOLISHNESS?

By Chima Onyekachi

For Family Writers.

“You may not control all the events that happen to you but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Maya Angelou.

The Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, have shown a high degree of peace and decorum in their struggle for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra and have been applauded across the world which has led to their registration in over 88 countries in the world. The arrest in 0ctober, 2015, of the leader of IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra and Biafra Television, sparked series of protests and demonstrations by Biafrans across the world calling for his immediate release. It should be noted that Nnamdi Kanu has been granted bail by various courts of competent jurisdiction but the courts orders were flouted by President Muhammadu Buhari, who has insisted that he must jail him. The protests in Biafraland were peaceful even with the brutality and killing of Biafrans by Nigeria armed forces. The protests all over the world were massive and even broke the Guinness book of records as the most coordinated and peaceful protest in the world.

In Onitsha, Aba, Ugwuocha (Port Harcourt), Enugu, Bayelsa, Abuja and Ebonyi, innocent Biafrans were killed, injured and even arrested for protesting peacefully, in their possession were no arms but only flags, clothings and accessories of Biafra. President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria in his interview with television network, Al-Jazeera, vehemently refused to watch the Aba massacre of peaceful Biafran protesters that caught the world’s attention. Biafrans had gathered at National High School, Aba and were praying peacefully when the Nigeria armed forces surrounded them and opened fire on them. There was a stampede and many were killed and injured, the dead bodies were carried off by the Nigeria Army and dumped in a burrow pit along Aba-Port Harourt expressway. The bodies were embalmed with corrosive chemicals to distort the identities of the victims. Amnesty International, HURIWA, INTERSOCIETY, SBCHROs have confirmed these atrocities on Biafrans but the violence and subjugation on innocent Biafrans by the Nigeria armed forces have continued.

After the gruesome murder, maiming and arrests of Biafrans during the commemoration to pay homage to the Heroes and Heroines of the 1967-1970 Biafra Genocide on May 30th 2016. The stance of the leadership of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, to continue the peaceful approach for the restoration of Biafra is been questioned by Biafrans.  On the day of the protest, when protesting Biafrans found out I was a journalist for Family Writers, they insisted I must pass the message to the leadership of IPOB, on the need for them to be allowed to protect themselves from the murderous Fulani soldiers who are trigger happy and believes they are doing the bidding of Allah. I logged into Facebook and a post by Mmiri Kalu Chukwuebuka caught my attention, it was written as thus: “Any other peaceful approach towards this movement is a total stupidity. I’m sorry to say this please”. I was taken aback because the post is coming from a vocal hardcore Biafran who has always participated in most of the demonstrations and was one of those arrested in Enugu on his way from IPOB family meeting.  I do not envy the positions of the leaders of IPOB at this moment because this period is a tough time for them all. I am aware the Nigeria government is provoking the people of Biafra into arms struggle in order to tag them terrorists but Biafrans have avoided retaliation. But when Fulani soldiers begin to invade churches and private residence in the search for Biafrans, we all need to have a second thought and begin to strategize to overcome the planned extermination of Biafrans.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu raised the matter condemning the actions of the security agents, drawing the Senate’s attention to the bloodbath in the South Eastern region and the need for people to be allowed to express their views in any form they choose without infringing on the freedom of others. The Senate President Bukola Saraki, who presided over the plenary condemned the incident but tactically refused to allow any debate on it.  The Nigeria army that lead other security agencies in massacring Biafrans in Onitsha has denied killing Biafrans but evidences abound to prove them wrong. It is no surprise the Nigeria media and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has assisted in circulating falsehood to the society on what transpired in Nkpor and other parts of Biafraland in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Biafra genocide.

My personal opinion to every true born Biafran is to remain resolute for no freedom is gotten without blood sacrifice. Biafrans must make plans to protect themselves from been slaughtered like chickens, anymore killing of Biafrans on peaceful missions must be retaliated. I have come to realize that the only language the Nigeria government understands is violence. The right to self-determination is enshrined in the United Nations Human Right Charter and Biafrans must exercise it. The amalgamation treaty of Fredrick Lugard of Britain has expired and Biafrans will not be forced to continue in an unholy union called Nigeria. Biafra must be restored either through peace or war, and the war has begun already but Biafrans are not armed yet to face the onslaught on them by the Fulani soldiers sent specially to Biafraland on the mission to exterminate Biafrans and to islamize Biafraland.

  1. Ipob writers must stop ending every article with release of Nnamdi kanu since some people have been killed in this struggle too.His life is not more important than those killed already, we have to focus on the agitation for Biafra not release of Nnamdi kanu.
In this struggle many will still die but we must go on with our struggle for freedom.
We must Gorman an armed group to give soldiers run for their money, our brothers in the army must give information on soldiers that were involved in the killings s we can fix them and their families where ever they may live.
We must get the army and police think twice before killing Ipob or Massob members. The are afraid of Avengers, op and boko haram but kill our people easily.Igno police and army re there or may be involved in killing their brothers, we must find out those involved in those shootings.

  2. It's only in the Islamic state of Nigeria and their co-conspirators - Yoruba traitors that peaceful and unarmed freedom protesters are gunned down in numbers, yet people go about their businesses as if nothing happened. Biafrans should march in their millions to protest against this barbaric and satanic massacres of their young people in Onitsha and Asaba. Additionally, Islamic Nigeria is uncivilized. It's time to arm people and be ready to shoot down Nigeria military forces that shoot your people. I’m sick and tired of your crying wolf. Now, the Islamic State and their co- conspirators including Britain, U.S and others are asking for peace with NDA and ignore IPOB and Biafra cause. Enough of this stupid peaceful process in an uncivilized and undemocratic state Nigeria.

  3. I just hope that after all this killing and all your peaceful protest that by the end you get biafra. Pls dont disgrace us the second time biafra. The time our fathers couldnt achive it and we went through hell suffering in the hands of the north. Now this is the second time. I hope after everything it wouldnt be a disappointnent. Because if its a disappoint the hausa, yoruba will deal with guys more than the last time. They will make sure igbo man remain a forever slaves to nigeria and they will make sure igbo women are molested and use as hausa/fulani / yoruba prostitued. Our children wouldnt have any future in nigeria if u guys losse this biafra thing. And i also see igbos dividing because of shame if u loose this biafra course. Now the niger delta avengers might end up accepting FG offer after all this. And living u biafran betraied. Because this niger deltans are not straght forward on they demand. They demand for this today tomorr they demand for another. And they are not united in they struggle. Different groups everyday asking for different thing. Thats why said they can disappoint your biafra course and follow FG offer. The truth is that niger deltan and biafrans u dont stand strong on your demand for a separete states now that u have world and nigerian govenment paniking. If u guys fail this second time by accepting one nigeria. Mark my word the hausa yoruba fulani even the british will make u suffered and they will make sure that this generation of igbos and the new generation igbos will never talk about biafra again.they will kill abuse and force u guys to remain forever slaves. So trade with care. I am igbo on biafra side but am scared that we may loose it again this second time. Because no seriousness of the international communite backing us up. They ask us to do it peacefully which we are doing yet no backups. All this is happening because the wicked british and the north and the yoruba want the biafran people to remain slaves forever. Well let me stop here the ball is on your core. Thanks. Am miss ogechi.
