IPOB -TRUMP SOLIDARITY RALLY: MAGISTRATE DENIES BIAFRA DETAINEES BAIL TO AVOID PUBLIC CELEBRATION

IPOB -TRUMP SOLIDARITY RALLY: MAGISTRATE DENIES IPOB DETAINEES BAIL TO AVOID PUBLIC CELEBRATION

Ibeh Gift Amarachi Reporting For Family Writers

Following the adjournment on the 1st day of February 2017 to 3rd February 2017 for ruling on the bail application of the Indigenous People Of Biafra who were abducted by the Nigeria combined team of Force Men and remanded in Port Harcourt Maximum Prisons, as ordered by the presiding Magistrate Andrew Jaja, the bail application was denied.

Reason for denying the defendants bail according to Chief Magistrate Andrew Jaja, was "To Avoid Massive Celebration When Granted Bail, Which Can Bring about Societal Disturbance, Due To Public Outcry and Interest on the Case, Though the Court Has the Jurisdiction to Grant Them Bail".
The presiding Magistrate went ahead to state in Court that, the defendants were not charged with an offence punishable to death, but Life imprisonment, hence based on Section 169 of Criminal Justice they can be granted bail in High Court. The case for further hearing on their charges was adjourned to 17th Of February 2017.

The laughable basis of denying IPOB detainees bail, whose only offence was celebrating the inauguration of the 45th President Of America Donald Trump, is indeed a violation of Human Right. It is very obvious that, the judiciary of Nigeria is a total shame and a disgrace to mother Justice. For a Magistrate in a Court of Law to refuse granting bail to innocent Biafrans with an awkward reason of trying to avoid massive celebration, it then means the restoration of Biafra should be ardently supported by the International Communities. Justice has been raped in Nigeria and individuals no longer have hope in the judiciary.
