By Mazi Onyebuchi Eze
Family Writers' Chief Media Analyst
As Biafra referendum is already few days away from today, there are calls upon calls coming to Family Writers Press' current affairs desk to begin a serious media analysis on the phrase "BIAFRA REFERENDUM" so that millions of Biafrans will understand what Biafra Referendum truly stands for and exactly means. It is upon this clarion calls from Biafrans all over the world to their own tested and trusted media outlet known as Family Writers Press, that our current affairs desk considered it necessary to create this weekly feature story called FAMILY WRITERS WEEKLY FOCUS ON BIAFRA REFERENDUM which will be coming weekly as we wait for Biafra referendum. As we move-on on the analysis of this maiden edition of weekly focus on Biafra referendum, Family Writers Press is going to consider Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) as general overview.
#FAQ 1 - WHAT IS REFERENDUM?
A referendum, especially the one necessitated by an agitation for a sovereign state like Biafra is an election-like exercise where the Indigenous People of the territory demanding exit from Nigeria are made to vote in the exercise so that the true statistics of "YES" or "NO" to the demand of new expected sovereign nation is determined. So, to any layman in Biafra Land who may ask to know, tell him that Biafra referendum is an election where all of us will vote to get Biafra or reject it. Tell our fathers and mothers, our aged men and women, our youths and elders that if they vote "YES" for Biafra, then we and our children unborn will escape the danger contained in the terror coming from Hausa/Fulani Nigeria and their slave master Britain, but if they vote "NO" on Biafra, we will continue to gnash teeth in Nigeria. We must begin serious sensitization in our villages all over Biafra Land without further delay.
#FAQ 2 - WHAT ABOUT IF THEY RIG THE REFERENDUM LIKE OTHER ELECTIONS IN NIGERIA?
IPOB field evangelists for the referendum all over Biafra Land should tell our people not to fear about any rigging because it is not going to be the corrupt INEC or any agency of Nigeria government will conduct the referendum but special agency of United Nations saddled with such responsibility. Nigeria government, IPOB, AU, ECOWAS and other international observers will be in observing status. UN, AU, EU and ECOWAS are all aware that Nigeria government does not want Biafraexit and will thereby maintain a level playing ground between Nigeria govt and Biafra IPOB during the referendum. What should be utmost priority of IPOB field evangelists is to place our referendum campaign billboards, flexes and posters in every village in Biafra Land and share our referendum handbills in Schools, Churches, Markets and Motor packs. All IPOB members and everybody that want Biafra restored must go to his village and preach the need for Biafra referendum to our elders in the village. In a referendum, every vote is important and every Biafran who fail to vote for Biafra is committing a grievous sin against our unborn generations to come.
#FAQ 3 - HOW & WHEN WILL THE REFERENDUM COME?
Biafra referendum will come as soon as we successfully boycott Anambra election in November 18, 2017. If we all stay indoor that day and refuse to cast even a single vote in that governorship election, bet me within 60 days, Biafra referendum will be conducted because of overwheming embarassment and disgrace which Nigeria govt will suffer from the boycotted election. Are you a Biafran who want Biafra restored, don't be decieved that we will get Biafra through Nigeria politics, but boycott the election on November 18, 2017 and see Biafra referendum before January 18, 2018. Family Writers is telling Biafrans that there is no easy way to restore Biafra than Anambra election boycott which is now holding to the jugular of Nigeria govt and Anambra greedy politicians.
#FAQ 4 - WHAT WILL BE THE LEGITIMACY OF A VOTER IN THE REFERENDUM?
Any Biafran by Indigenous identity residing in Biafra Land who has attained age of 18 years is eligible to vote. Any person who is not a Biafran who reside in Biafra Land is not eligible to vote in the referendum. In well organized referendum, the UN referendum-conducting agency will also make special provision for Biafrans in diaspora to participate in the referendum. But the primary target of the referendum is the territory of Biafra Land where the agitation for Biafra restoration is emanating from. It is on this ground that IPOB Highest Command will order all Biafrans residing in diaspora to sacrifice and come home during the time of both Biafra referendum registration and voting exercise as no nature of excuse is acceptable if any Biafran fail to vote "YES" for Biafra restoration referendum which is already around the corner. This is the maiden edition of Biafra referendum analysis. Keep a date with Family Writers Press next week.
