BIAFRA: BREAK YOUR SILENCE OVER THE KILLING OF BIAFRANS, IPOB COTE D'IVOIRE CHAPTER TELLS UN
As Biafrans celebrated the events of 30th of May 2018 globally, the Cote D'Ivoire National Chapter of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has urged the United Nations to as a matter of urgency and responsibility, break her silence over the unrelenting killing of Biafrans by the Nigerian Security Forces. The National Chapter of the Indigenous People of Biafra in Cote D'Ivoire re-echoing the demand of other sister IPOB family chapters globally, made this demand as it's members converged for a rally in a conference square in Abidjan, the country's capital city, in commemoration of the Biafran Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day. They unanimously lend their voices to the call for the United Nations to expeditiously initiate investigations into the gruesome and steady killing of Biafrans by the agents of the Nigerian government. They also added that the only panacea to this bizarre acts of genocide is to compel the Nigerian government to put up modalities, for the conduction of acceptable referendum for the Biafran people.
The International Community duly got the message and intent of Biafrans during the rally organized by the IPOB family in Abidjan. There were displays of various slain Biafran pictures on banners and posters calling on the United Nations to live up to her statutory functions and mandate. Biafrans are steadily being extra-judicially killed, abducted and incarcerated in their numbers across Nigeria. Many have been maimed just because they are freely exercising their rights to freedom and independence.
Nigerian prisons and other detention facilities are filled with Biafrans. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's whereabout since after his abduction by the Nigerian army on 14th of September 2017 till date, has remained a mystery. The Nigerian government should be compelled without further delay, to abide by the tenets of International laws and protocols governing self-determination by peacefully and democratically conducting acceptable referendum for Biafrans. This is the only premise for peace to reign in the West African sub-region particularly and in Africa in general.
In it's onerous task of disseminating information according to professional ethics, the Family Writers Press while assessing and collating objective-based information on the very recent Biafran Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day of 30th May 2018, as globally commemorated, had direct contact with the National Coordinator of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Cote D'Ivoire Chapter, Mazi Emeka Gift. He dished out compelling briefs on the reason behind such a call on the United Nations. Responding to enquiries from the Chief Media Analyst of the Family Writers Press, Onyebuchi Eze, the National Coordinator said such was born out of their desire for lasting peace in the West African sub-region and by extension, the global community. He reminded the world again that Biafrans are yet being murdered in their numbers by the Nigerian government and that the United Nations should break her immoral silence over this mayhem, as this position remains a dangerous precedence in the region.
According to Mazi Emeka Gift, this conspiracy of silence by the world body may if not proactively handled, instigate unprecedented arm struggle in the cause of the Biafra restoration project. He maintained that the United Nations owe humanity an unavoidable responsibility by hastily arresting the deteriorating situation between Biafrans and the Nigerian government. This can only be permanently settled through the instrumentality of conducting a non- partisan referendum where the people can freely determine their future. The Cote D'Ivoire National Coordinator further stated that IPOB Cote D'Ivoire Chapter remains focused and assiduously working with some high profile offices in the country to ensure that a certified copy of the call to the United Nations gets to Mr. Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General at the Headquarters as well as the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America.
When contacted, the IPOB spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful commended the courageous step taken by the Cote D'Ivoire brethren as a welcome development. He reiterated that such a stride is expected by the IPOB Directorate of State from all the National Chapters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) from their various countries of abode. He joyfully praised the efforts of respective IPOB Family Chapters for their successful rallies held across the globe in commemoration of the 30th of May 2018 event. Comrade Emma Powerful also collaborated the position of the Cote D'Ivoire based brethren by calling on the United Nations to heed the call of the IPOB regarding the referendum question to avert the looming calamity staring West Africa in the face. He conclusively stated that a United Nations' sponsored and organized referendum for the Biafran people remains the only redeemable option than waiting to coordinate sponsorship of relief materials amongst others, in the event of any outbreak of crisis arising from Biafra agitations.
