"FIRST PHASE OF BIAFRA REFERENDUM COMING IN FEW WEEKS TIME" -- SAYS IPOB

"FIRST PHASE OF BIAFRA REFERENDUM COMING IN FEW WEEKS TIME" -- SAYS IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, the globally most civilised, peaceful and well organized Indigenous mass movement of our time, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, pointedly announced to the world on Tuesday 19th June 2018, that the first phase out of three series of Biafra referendum, is coming in the next few weeks. This will be conducted as a prelude in the series, for Biafra independence. This information was contained in the Press statement released by the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, which was made available last Tuesday being the 19th day of the month of June, 2018. Contacted by the Family Writers Press Current Affairs department on this development, Comrade Emma Powerful stated that the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, has tenaciously completed consultations with relevant stakeholders across towns and cities within Biafraland. The stakeholders which comprised of traditional, religious, opinion, women and youth leaders et cetera, unanimously endorsed the Biafra referendum in their respective capacities. It is now certain that the first phase of the planned referendum will be conducted when the scheduled time comes for Biafrans to make a declaration of their intents before the world.

In the said Press statement, the IPOB unequivocally stated that the printing of 40 million ballot papers have been concluded in readiness for the soon coming referendum date which will be duly announced. All eligible Biafrans from the age of 18 years and above within Biafraland, will be expected to make a statement through the ballot whether to continue in Nigeria or decide an outright exit for an independent Biafra.

The leadership of the IPOB also used the opportunity to remind the world that referendum has previously been conducted in Nigeria in 1961, for the then National Council of Nigeria and Cameroon (NCNC). This used to be a predominant Anglophone Southern Cameroon which was allowed to decide their political future between Nigeria and Cameroon. In the year 1963, the people of the Midwestern region of Nigeria, also had a referendum through which they decided to exit the Yoruba dominated Western region for an autonomy. By these, Comrade Emma Powerful concluded that a call for Biafra referendum does not in any way, translate into a call for war as some treacherous and uninformed but educated Nigerians seem to sing. They have surreptitiously exerted their deception and ignorance of pure historical facts on the gullible through the media with the Nigerian government, as a gimmick against Biafrans.

Premised on this unfolding developments, the Current Affairs Desk of the Family Writers Press deem it expedient to join the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, in bringing to the world's attention, the soon coming Biafra referendum. It is important we call on the major players in global politics like the United States of America, Germany, France, United kingdom, Israel, Russia, United Nations, European Union, African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), to ensure that the Nigerian government is compelled into respecting the country's own Constitution of 1999 as amended.

It clearly stipulates in section 8 that any part of defunct Nigeria which desires the creation a of state, local government area or any form of boundary adjustment should go through the means of a referendum. Therefore, it is important for the provision of that fact in the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 as amended, and being the supreme law in the land, to be accorded due recognition. The principle of a referendum as the only basic democratic process through which the people of any region in Nigeria is given the opportunity to determine their political future and direction should be implemented. Biafra cannot be an exception. A visit to section 8 of the Nigerian 1999 Constitution as amended, is a tacit conviction of this analysis. The IPOB referendum process is a definitive phenomenon contained in the Nigerian Constitution which must not be alternated.

The Indigenous People of Biafra globally which embodies all legitimate agitations for the independence of Biafra, hereby calls on the civilised world to unreservedly lend it's support to this Biafra referendum drive as it's conduction approaches. Against all shades of provocations and persecutions of the Nigerian government, the IPOB has remained unruffled in her respect to all known International protocols. She has diligently chosen peaceful and civilised means in her agitations for the complete restoration of the sovereignty of the Biafran nation. The world owe humanity that duty of reciprocation by wholistically, supporting the Biafran referendum without resorting to any form of bias hinged on obnoxious bilateral relationship it presently enjoys with Nigeria.

  3. Let's hurry up and get out from this abominable country created by evil and wicked British Empire. Let do whatever it takes. This bondage, slavery, captivity and coming islamization is enough. Biafra, which is freedom or death.
