COURTESY VISIT TO BUHARI BY SELECTED OGONI ELDERS, ON WHOSE INTEREST?

COURTESY VISIT TO BUHARI BY SELECTED OGONI ELDERS, ON WHOSE INTEREST?

It is a well detailed fact that since the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the Nigerian President almost four years ago, he has blatantly and subtly avoided visiting any part of the coastal area of Biafraland (so-called Niger Delta region), not to talk of Ogoniland.

Recently however, at the heat of widespread successful Biafra General Strike/Sit-At-Home Action staged across Biafraland on Friday 14th September 2018 as ordered by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) globally, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu which is yet being noised around both nationally and internationally, the seemingly frustrated Buhari led Nigerian government in it's desperation, suddenly reached out to some gullible Ogoni elders for a concocted visit to the presidency in Aso Rock.

It is interesting to note that this same Buhari had earlier promised an immediate commencement of cleanup exercise of vast oil polluted areas of Ogoniland upon assumption of office in 2015, which turned out to be deceptive and an abysmal failure as evidently shown till date. The Ogoni Province of Biafraland has become a seemingly helpless object of political propaganda cum campaign machinery being used to score cheap political points, possible access tool to prominence and public recognition.

It is excruciatingly disappointing that while some elders are genuinely and conscientiously seeking ways of extricating their kits and kins from the prevalent shackles of slavery and impoverishment placed upon them by the despotic policies of the Nigerian State, others find pleasure in shamelessly conniving with the enemies to eternally mortgage the well-being of their own people for frivolities and personal aggrandizements. These Abuja contracted Ogoni elders who embarked on the visit must be clearly stated it here, are the pitiably frustrated, spent forces/chieftains of All Progressive Congress (APC), Nigeria's ruling political party who have lost relevance and respect in their various communities following the tenure expiration of the erstwhile governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi. This Aso Rock visit hinged principally on mundane interests of the opportunists which revolve around their clamor for political overtures.

These treacherous elders (APC faithfuls), it was reported, also shamelessly conferred a traditional chieftaincy title "MENE DOOLENU IN OGONILAND" on Muhammadu Buhari, meaning "the King of good deeds in Ogoniland". What a betrayal! What a confusion of faces!!

It is heartbreaking really, how some supposedly reputable elders of the land could travel all the way from their domains to a strange land, to confer on a Fulani Islamic Fundamentalist, a terrorist to the core, with an unrepentant disdain for the people, such a traditional title that even Ken Saro Wiwa, an Ogoni son of blessed memory, never received. Oh!, what a misnomer!! For how long shall we carry on with this enslavement mentality, begging the aliens/enemies cap in hand for what rightly belongs to us? For how long  shall we continue to live as conquered people and at the mercy of the Hausa-Fulani oligarchy?

What benefit besides suffering, deprivation and death has Buhari's government bequeathed to the Ogonis to warrant such symbolic conferment of a valuable traditional title by these band of misguided and mischievous APC faithfuls? I will rather advice that these political prostitutes/Hausa-Fulani bootlickers face their selfish political merchandise and let the Ogonis be. We have suffered enough.

Conclusively, I enjoin true Ogoni sons and daughters to arise, take their rightful positions and collectively place a demand for their freedom. Do not yield to the evil machinations of the enemy because Biafra is indisputably a fulfilled prophecy whose time has come. The sovereign nation of Biafra must be restored. There is absolutely no disputation about this reality.
