The Inconsequentiality Of The Communique Of The South-East Leaders

The Inconsequentiality Of The Communique Of The South-East Leaders

Judging by the information gathered about the meeting held by South-East governors, elders, traditional rulers, clergymen, political leaders amongst others, at Enugu State, in the recent past, wherein they reportedly discussed the issue of insecurity in the region and the way forward, I personally make bold to tag their meeting a waste of time and resources.

For such a high profile meeting of political leaders in the very mentioned region to hold, the masses' expectations were quite high, awaiting a lasting solution proffered to the current security situation bedeviling our dear region. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment as the communique issued thereafter, added to the existing challenges instead of ameliorating them.

The communique of the meeting took this stance:

1. They condemned the killings in the region and have agreed to join hands with  security agencies to stem the tide but the truth remains that just condemning the killings is not enough. The decision on which way to tackle it, is what the people wanted to hear. And as disappointing as it was, they agreed to work with the Nigerian security forces that have actually been the main perpetrators.

That alone has made their decision to simply be a right step taken in the wrong direction, because this year alone, many citizens have died innocently in the hands of the Nigerian soldiers and policemen, than natural death did in the region. The security forces dispatched from the North, mostly comprised of the Fulanis who hate the Igbos and gruesomely kill them with impunity. So, agreeing to work with our enemies for our own wellbeing, is totally ironical and unacceptable, as such will rather fuel the already tensed security situation in the region.

2. They condemned the sit-at-home orders by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and agreed to do all within their powers, to ensure no sit-at-home is held.

Again, they failed to realize that power is no longer in their hands. They are just there for being sake, because though they call themselves leaders, they have lost their values. They have since, chosen to remain the slavery tools of the Northern Oligarchs who want to decimate the Igbos by all means. The South-East governors are being used to kill their own people by their Northern counterparts and until they realize this and make amends, the Biafrans will continue with their sit-at-home civil disobedience exercise whenever they deem fit. The Owerri killings, Aba massacre, Nkpor and Nnewi genocides are still very fresh in our minds. All these stemmed from the gross incompetence of the so-called political leaders of the South-East.

3. They agreed to launch Ebubeagu Security Outfit in all the South-East States before the end of 2021. They feign ignorance of the fact that Ebubeagu Security Outfit if floated, will be another version of the Nigerian police, army and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), since they are aiming to get all of them work together. They will be arresting and killing the innocent like the what the security forces are currently doing.

4. They equally received a report from Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide,  concerning the marginalization of the South-East region and decided to study it first. This again has exactly proven incompetence as leaders. Everyone knows about the marginalization of our region by the Nigerian government. Yet, these political hawks claimed not to know. Even when they were told about it, instead of taking a firm decision on it, they chose to study it for another "God knows how many years", before putting it into consideration.

5. They agreed to support the security agencies to restore peace in the region. Operation Python Dance one, two and three, were all conducted in the region and that birthed the current security situation. No security force can stop this ongoing slaughtering of the people if not the Eastern Security Network (ESN) when fully supported.

This is because those carrying out the callous acts are Northern soldiers and DSS agents serving in the South-East. As it stands now, there is no other security outfit that can supported for peace to return. What we have is a group of terrorists in uniform and these terrorists are about to be given the killing warrant by our governors who ought to be protecting us.

6. They agreed to support the scheduled Anambra State election. Infact, they would have prioritized the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader and not election, etcetera. So for the fact that they failed to discuss this, they should know very well that every other thing deliberated on, amounts to nullity. Nothing will be effectively carried out as long as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is still illegally detained.

On this note, I wish to categorically state that IPOB to my knowledge, will never honor any dialogue that primarily, does not accommodate the freedom of its leader and the Biafra referendum.
