KANU OPPOSES VIOLATION OF HIS RIGHT BY NIGERIAN PRISON WARDEN

KANU OPPOSES VIOLATION OF HIS RIGHT BY NIGERIAN PRISON WARDEN

By Ifeanyi Chijioke
For Family Writers

The desire and impulse to abuse human right is what runs in the blood of Nigerian institutions under Buhari, this desire to abuse human rights redouble most times when the executive of the day is against such litigant or opposition, neither has Nigerian press done enough to promote and protect human right, they are more concerned about their brown envelope stipend from the government as a bribe to soft-pedal on her.

The Nigerian DSS took charge last year, tortured and illegally detained Kanu for 98 days, flouting court orders and even publicly assaulting their said suspect. And recently the Nigeria prison service was given the suspect by his lordship John Tosho, Nnamdi Kanu appeared in the court on his first hearing as full observance of human right was recorded and respectfully the litigant was handled.

In what appears as order from above to humiliate Nnamdi Kanu, the case changed on the second appearance in the court for his bail hearing, brought to the court under heavy security and was handcuffed brutally. The court session commenced as the argument played out by both council’ took the minutes of the long dawn. Before and after the court case, Nnamdi Kanu was filled with smile and looking so bright and unconcerned about the persecution by Nigerian government they termed prosecution.
Coming out of the court as he was cheered by the people that had come to show solidarity, laughing and returning their love, he was vehemently punched and pushed around in humiliation every effort to talk to Biafran family writers/journalist was futile. Giving account of the assault, our reporters said his cloth was turned and he was vehemently punched.

Further speaking on the assault, the crown Princess of Afarama ibeku, the sister of Nnamdi Kanu said. “ Kanu my lovely brother is not well, he has been kept in DSS dungeon and had received enough beating and torture, i wonder why the prison warden would not respect his fundamental right, why must they assault him for asking for Biafra, did he kill anyone, did he commit any crime or did anything  unlawful? With the way the warden was punching him he could be hospitalized” she cried as she continued “ i was close to him and i heard him groan, my brother is being abused”

But speaking to our reporters, Kanu Nta the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu said, “they are fond of assaulting and beating him, humiliating him like he is not a human being, but you all know Nnamdi Kanu, even in the face of death, he is always fearless, he stood the warden and talked to him, he thought him law and order, they handcuffed him brutally and he told them that he has been in a civilized world where accused is respected, and he above all cautioned them boldly that his right must be respected”
It is a shame to the Nigerian prison institution that even in a high profile case like this, they were unable to compose their selves and be lawful. They need to be thought that suspects’ rights are still protected by the law and should not be abused and assaulted like seen with Kanu.

  3. Time is fastly approaching when people will be forming rebel armies and begin to fight the government armies like such that's happening in Syria, Iraq and Iran even Afghanistan if time is not carefully taken in this dead state called Nigeria. The government is pushing everybody to the wall. I don't wanna be part of Nigeria, is it a crime? It's like when one says he's not living with his parents anymore that he wants to go and establish his own family and then his parents will crucify him for saying that. Is it supposed to be like that?
