BIAFRANS HAVE LOST VALUE AND ESSENCE IN NIGERIA

Emeka Nnaoma Gift, the founder of Family Writers, during Family writers first assembly quoted “I am tired of Nigeria, we were never Nigerians and we must go back to our natural home, for that, let everyone for the sake of that land our fathers lived before Nigeria was forced upon them, let us work in projection of Nnamdi Kanu’s ideology for the restoration of Biafra” it is important to know Biafra is not sought to be created but to be restored because it has existed before Nigeria.
For quite a long time, Aso Ahuoma has been following Family writers, an admirer of my column, she liked Biafra Herald to read our numerous articles and she praised FAMILY WRITERS. She observed the tremendous effort of IPOB and felt that if IPOB made such efforts in Nigeria, that Nigeria will be a better country. She is very much convinced that Biafra will be a nation to reckon with should it come, but she is afraid of possible war that might subsequently breakout if the planned referendum is altered by Nigerian government. She is a student of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) and debated that to lift our condition, why can’t IPOB make Nigeria better than divide it as she also argued that Biafrans are Nigerians.
For the first time, there seems to be a debate even-though it is very much unofficial but it gives obvious direction, taking a better path that will soothe the longing of peaceful hearts. Looking amazingly beautiful, she wanted to be well convinced that the last option is Biafra, she is a Biafran but lost to the lies and conspiracy of Nigeria.
Her stance took me back to the insincerity of Nigeria; I wonder how long this contraption built on deceit will last. Those that were born after the war or during the war, why can’t they be taught of the history of Nigeria and Biafra in school? Why can’t they be taught that Nigeria was the forceful amalgamation of three nations, was Nigeria not a product of conquest for political and economical gain? They deserved to know that nobody is a Nigerian but Arewa, Oduduwa or Biafra. I will reply her question in a form that will extensively solve problems of other people; my submissions will not be solely reflective of her question. However, this will be an alternative to the planned debate as I will welcome opposing notion or submission anywhere it may be.
Firstly, it is crucial to know that Nnamdi Kanu is not fighting for Biafra because he originally wanted Biafra, he is fighting for Biafra because Biafrans have lost essence and value in Nigeria. Biafra is agitated for because there is significant marginalization, deprivation, denial, molestation, abandonment, hatred, attack and infliction of death. These can be illustratively backed up by the orchestrated pogroms, terrorism that Biafrans have been the target, exclusive appointment in political positions, harsh economical policies targeted at Biafrans, invasion of Fulani herdsmen, absence of federal presence and death of infrastructure and social amenities in Biafra> no motorable roads in Biafra land, no working seaports, no hospitals, no drinking water, no power supply, no industrial locations. There is no social amenity and among all, Biafran land is in state of mess, contaminated by oil spill, there is famine as a result of this, there is suffering and hence all these breathed, Kanu chose to deliver Biafrans. That prompted the will to die getting Biafra because we are not living a life by virtue of our condition in Nigeria.
Had Nigeria managed the resources in our land well, squarely used the proceedings and made Biafra land look like Oduduwa and Arewa land. What will Kanu be doing in the prison today, why would we choose to die and why would we choose death over remaining in Nigeria? I am convinced you agree that these reasons are worth dying for and for selfless Nnamdi Kanu who lives in London and has everything it takes to achieve anything he wants is scorchingly driving this struggle; you will also agree with me that Biafra agitation under Kanu is borne out of passion and destiny. Meanwhile, to lay foundation of possible fixture of our murdered land would have ignited our belief in Nigeria, but instead of giving us hope, we are further shown that we are not part of Nigeria. If there is hope in Nigeria, they would not have divided us into south south and southeast just to make us minority. As a matter of being minority, nothing can be achieved because we shall remain divided which will give room for us to be ruled and subjugated.
How can we be Nigerians when in 1910 our great grand fathers were not Nigerians, how can we be Nigerians when our grand fathers are older than Nigeria? Somebody explain to me how I can we be a Nigerian while Biafra has existed for over 5000 years, far more older than Nigeria. We are indigenous people residing in Biafra and we shall not deny our ancestry because of selfish creation of the white man called Nigeria. It is important to know Nigeria came into existence 1914 and got independence in 1960 and my question is, what were you(grand fathers) before 1914? dear Aso Ahuoma. Nigeria is not being divided by IPOB but naturally going her ways, water and oil cannot mix no matter how long you leave them in same bowl. There is visible religious division which was there right from inception, there is cultural division, there is lingual division, there is division on plane of value system, and even character-wise, there is division. When three different people that do not fit come together, it is only phenomenally certain that there will be endless division.
Nigeria can only be united at the cost of bloodshed, due to the opposing culture and belief; there must be endless strife which will keep causing death. We have to be human for once and realize staying apart and working as a united Africa will save our lives and lives of our unborn. We must not stay in a contraption wasting blood or lives in effort to be one we cannot be. Every hope of working as a unit in Nigeria got lost in 1967, that brutal genocide threw it away and further inability to heal the wound of the war buried it finally. Since after that war, Nigerians live in fear and believe if Biafrans are allowed to excel, they will attempt to go away again and so frustrating and subjugating Biafrans became the last option. How can we build and cope in such condition, there is no hope as our last hope is Biafra.
