NOW IN ECOWAS COURT: CAN BUHARI CONTROL THE COURT AND FLOUT ORDERS?

NOW IN ECOWAS COURT: CAN BUHARI CONTROL THE COURT AND FLOUT ORDERS?

Nigeria have come to the end of the road, if anything is worth commendation, it is the decision to seek redress in the sub-regional court where Buhari will have no control or ability to disrespect the out-come of the court. If Buhari continue to show contempt to this court then it becomes a clear war against African continent. He has grossly narrowed Nigerian courts to nothing that investors fear if orders of a court cannot bind, then what exactly would bind? If this is not democratic rule but dictatorial rule, then let the pronouncement be made than abuse tenet of democracy.

Buhari for a very long time has been showing his power in Nigeria, where the judiciary lacks power to serve justice due to bribery and executive threats of using its power to molest the judges if any goes contrary to his wish or order. This was made manifest by total contempt to the outcome of the high court and magistrate court respectively.
Recall that Buhari in his median media chat held that Kanu will never be released even though the Nigerian Supreme Court orders his release. He went further to saying that the court must hear charges against Kanu. In response to it, the trial judge in high court who was presented to hear a bail application ruled in favour of Buhari to making sure Buhari’s demand is met. In Nigeria the president is seen as a God who can do and undo with the court.

Meanwhile, some world leaders have condemned the arrest and continued incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu. Speaking to the Indigenous People of Biafra that had come to the Vatican City to see the pope and press home their demand for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and restoration of Biafra. The Pope noted that Biafrans are demanding for their right in a legal and peaceful way as he wondered why they must be arrested and killed and urged Buhari to stop killing Biafrans but go into dialogue to arresting the situation. He however promised to do everything he can to help Biafra get their right.

On same development, a British MP who is a staunch supporter of Nnamdi Kanu speaking to Biafrans who gathered in front of the parliament held that Biafra is a call for justice. She disclosed that she supports Biafra because it is legitimately agitated for; she however held that it is done in a Christian way which connotes peace. She promised to do everything she can for justice to prevail. The president of Russian had through his twitter handle twitted that he is aware of the situation and would come in due time. He urged Biafrans to keep fighting as he has priorities that would only allow him orally show his support with hope that once his priorities are met, he would come into Biafra issue physically and diplomatically, this is coming weeks after he voiced and demanded the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The president of Israel has also called for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu, though he has been quiet but monitoring the development in Biafra. He seems to be more concerned about action than talking. Recall that Israel is the natural, biological and religious ally of Biafrans. Biafra and Israel share same features and it is widely believed that Biafrans are the Israelites found residing in Africa. From around the world there have been a distinct and vivid support for Biafra and unavoidable sympathy for Biafra. This is so because Biafrans have been subjected to genocide and all kinds of horror in the course of peacefully and lawfully agitating for the release of their leader and restoration of independence that was lost after the war of extermination in 1967. Buhari has declined calls made by world leaders on the issue as he went on killing Biafrans and still detaining the leader of IPOB.

Nigerian courts have as well proved lack of independence as their orders have vehemently been opposed and declined. Nnamdi Kanu had before now said he lacks confidence in Nigerian court because injustice is perpetrated with the court. Such injustice was visible when his bail application was denied on grounds that he won’t stop Biafra agitation and the subsequent pronouncement that had he agreed to stop his agitation, he would be granted bail. This ruling however fell in line with Buhari’s demand during his media chat.
The question is, can Buhari control the ECOWAS court and decline or trample on its order? There were reports that Buhari tried his possible best to stopping the filing of the case in ECOWAS court due to fears the court cannot be bribed or controlled by him. There is growing fear that Buahri will use diplomatic means to try and influence the court or buy the court to continue his Nigerian hanky-panky trial of an innocent man.

On that same note, there is a strong push by OEAS to making sure that nothing but justice is served. It is believed that while the emergence of Biafra may be a bad news to Britain, it is good news to entire Africa as there is need for competition and development in Africa through true independence or freedom. Britain must hands off Africa in this case and allow the Japan of Africa to light up Africa. For Africa, the emergence of Biafra is a big plus and so justice will be served in ECOWAS.
