An Open Letter to Chairperson Idris Déby African Union

African Union Headquarters P.O. Box 3243 | Roosvelt Street (Old Airport Area) | W21K19 | Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Tel: (251) 11 551 77 00 | Fax :(251) 11 551 78 44 | Webmaster: [email protected]

Mr. Chairperson Idris Déby:

I have read that the African Union (hereinafter”AU”) was implemented parallel to the European Union and possesses ten commissioners supervising departments concerning politics, agricultural sector and peace and security. The charter purportedly to maintain “democracy, human rights and development” in tandem with investments in the continent and trouble spots are the proud recipients of peacekeepers.

Nigeria is in an economic and racial tailspin and I am not certain if you are aware of this, therefore, I am bringing to your attention. In addition to political rights, individuals are entitled to social, economic and cultural rights. Furthermore, in February 2016 the AU has the ability to facilitate and provide the blessings for self determination of a people. The AU supported the rights of the Saharawi people to self-determination and freedom. Morocco: AU Reiterates Support of Sahrawi People Right to Self-Determination I am writing in regards to the Biafran people that are begging for restoration of their Country. There have been countless murders of unarmed protesters, innocent bystanders, human rights violations observations by countless international agencies, the imprisonment of their leader by the Nigerian government and its Gestapo the DSS as well as Nigerian police and military personnel.

As recent as today, a student who is now in eternity lost his life Peter Ofurum. This student was protesting over the hike in tuition approved by Buhari making it unaffordable for certain demographics and was murdered by the police for freedom of expression. This young man was a Biafran. In 2003 and 2004 respectively, peacekeepers have been sent to Burundi and Sudan. Why has the AU been silent on the cries for a referendum for Biafra? Leadership is not for the faint of heart. Is the AU intimidated by Nigeria? Why is the African Union abdicating its responsibility and not assigning peacekeepers to Nigeria where Biafrans are targeted and ambushed? Why is the AU not facilitating resolution and coordinating a referendum when the Biafra people have diplomatically played by the rules even in spite of sheer force and violence? Why is the AU in effect discriminating against them and exhibiting covert hostility towards this facet of the population or at least that is what one can interpret? Does the AU cherry pick to whom aid and assistance will be provided? The World is watching and finds this disturbing as I do. It is in the best interest of the AU to seek to achieve stability in the region to attract investors and tourists in line with economic growth.

Thanks

  1. It's a shame that people from outside of Africa are the ones setting the pace for what presumably should be leadership role of Africa and African union (AU).The silence of AU over the truth remains a license for socio economic backwardness, human right abuse and betrayal of the continent. Truth be told,Nigeria has lost unity if it ever existed, forcing people because of a natural resource milked from them, to cohabit which Britain is championing in Nigeria will amount to breeding enemity for generations to come which authomatically guarantees unending crisis and instability. The hatred for Biafrans is too deep, and AU cannot afford to be seen as loving and abating this hatred by this conspiracy of silence. AU must realise that the world is silent over Biafra because AU has been silent, someday the African union would be asked what role it played to ensure freedom and liberty of a people under her jurisdiction. It's time for AU to be bold and courageous over Biafra inorder to prevent the looming danger because evil is an ill wind that blows no one any good.

    1. I am baffled and perplexed that these kinds of atrocities are allowed to occur during this epoch. The political bodies looking the other way while heinous crimes against humanity are committed. The intention of governing organizations should not be to only look after privileged character countries.

BUT THE LIGHT OF BIAFRA IS BEAMING UP!BIAFRA MUST BE FREE CERTAINLY! AND NNAMDI KANU WILL BE FREE VERY SOON!THE LIGHT OF BIAFRA WILL SHINE AND COVER ALL AFRICA,SO THAT THOSE LIVING IN DARKNESS WILL RECEIVE SIGHT AND LIGHT!
