DIPLOMACY AND RELIGION MUST NOT STAND IN THE WAY OF ICC: BUHARI’S CRIME MUST STOP

DIPLOMACY AND RELIGION MUST NOT STAND IN THE WAY OF ICC: BUHARI’S CRIME MUST STOP

I am not a type that loves making accusations,I constructively lay down my facts or proactively established truth. Before you come to the conclusion of this essay, you will simply find out that the bond of Islamic brotherhood has always been a strong one. This brotherhood runs in the vein of Muslims round the globe. I am very much aware that the prosecutor of ICC is from Islamic Republic of Gambia, I have no fears because justice is the banner of ICC. There have been more than evidence against Buhari, the shooting of innocent Biafrans to death in Aba that was digitally documented and described as premeditated genocide in some quarters is the lead- evidence. When Buhari was asked to watch the said video by an Aljazera journalist who interviewed him, he sharply abhorred it with his face turned against the screen, instead of showing remorse or deceiving the world that he did not order such crime against humanity,he only warned that peaceful protesters should not dare his soldiers as he won't tolerate Biafra activists. In other words, he is simply saying that he would do more than the one he has done. I believe that ICC must not let religion or diplomacy risk human existence, Buhari has not shown any sign of stopping his crime against humanity and that is why ICC must stop him.

Few days ago, a delegation from ICC visited Nigeria and as much as I know, there was nothing concrete that came out from that visit. Having been reassured by both parties that diplomatic ties will be maintained and respected, it triggered a panic in me, as a man that easily gives in to fear, I began to think beyond Nigeria. ISIS which has regional control and wreck havoc in the world was dropped by ICC on the basis that ICC lacks jurisdiction to entertaining the case. While ISIS wreck havoc on some countries that signed the Rome Statute, ICC denied those countries their legal defense on ground that where ISIS is headquartered is not signatory to the Rome Statute. Magics can happen but in Nigeria, magic will not happen. Magics happen because Islamic brotherhood is a serious thing. While the Nigerian ministers were swearing that they would handle cases of crime against humanity, the culprits smile and still go on killing more because immunity covers them. Just few days after their promises,a student was shot to death for protesting against the government. Probes are nothing but sham in Nigeria and this is why ICC must rise to this occasion and save mankind.

While this is the case, diplomacy is a means of saving lives and should not in any way obstruct justice. Nigeria killed over 3.5 million people with starvation, torture, rape and chemical weapon in 1967. Refugee camps were bombed, schools and hospitals, market places, blockade of air, land and sea. Genocide was committed by Nigeria against a sovereign Biafra. The perpetrators of the genocide went scot-free and that motivated Nigeria into being a killing field up till today. When evil is not curtailed or rebuked, it festers and festers like a cancer, that has become the condition of Nigeria and to cut the evil is the only option to saving the body. Diplomacy must not stand in the way of Justice and Nigeria must be brought to book so as to learn to value human existence.

Religion has been the key to sustainable Islamic brotherhood; this can illustratively be seen in Nnamdi Kanu's case. Buhari is spearheading the Palestinian- self-determination quest and also that of Western Sahara people. He is simply responding to the strong Islamic brotherhood that states a Muslim must fight for his fellow Muslim where ever he found himself. Nnamdi Kanu on self-determination quest was arrested and unlawfully incarcerated by same Buhari because he is a Christian and not because he committed any crime. The people of Biafra is massacred everyday because they are Christians and by virtue of this, it is important that religion is expelled and every man been seen as same and equal. Let religion not stand in the way of justice and ICC to keep on the good work it has been doing.

  1. Well articulated. I will personally will not be surprised if ICC says they did not find anything to hold Buhari acountable for killing Biafrans on a peaceful protests.
The whole world has once ganged up against the children of Chiukwu Okike Abiama (#BIAFRANS) and are planning to do the same again. I don't even know why we are complaining to the world knowing fully well that they are against us. Biafrans it's right time we take the bull by the horn, it's right we defend ourselves because the world will not defend us.
