THE CONTINUED DETENTION OF NNAMDI KANU WITH IMPUNITY, A LOOMING DANGER

THE CONTINUED DETENTION OF NNAMDI KANU WITH IMPUNITY, A LOOMING DANGER

By Richard Izuchukwu Oragwuncha

For Family Writers

There is this saying “when you kill a wondering mad man, you will know that there are people that he is still dear to”. It is about six months now since the detention of the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, up until now, it is a practice of malicious pranks been displayed by the Nigeria judiciary. The people that were unjustly massacred as a result of this same event are a matter that is yet to arise and no one is doing or saying anything about this raging time bomb.

It is a pitiable situation that the judicial arm that is a full time party to the Nigerian government as an institution has less or no power to executing the law as supposed or could it be an avenue to creating a new opportunity via which the easterners will be completely exterminated this time so that the British-Nigeria government will take hold of the oil rich region. It is obvious at this point that the eastern politicians and elites have kept mute as this danger kept unfolding by the day, which I will not refer to as an act of cowardice but just about selfishness. It is a shameful situation that a man who gave himself to fight for the freedom of his people is been extra judicially detained for months now even when the previous courts of justice and competent judges have called for his release.

Everyday fact about an attempt to assassinate him is the breaking news on every media headline yet the matter is being toyed around with like the person in question is an orphan who is from no community. Even orphans today, have people that arise to speak in their favour not to talk of a just man who is fighting in favour of millions of people among whom are billionaires, world political heads, and world recognized personalities. This escalating situation is heart breaking and life threatening. The earlier it is curbed, the better for every tom, dick and harry. For no matter how insignificant the person of Nnamdi Kanu may appear to the world at large, his death will certainly spell doom to the existence of humanity in Africa because he represents a hope to the hopeless. His followers see him as a mini god and will do anything humanly possible to avenge his death.

As for me, I remain of the opinion that Biafra be allowed exit because I can see a new united and a better developed Africa in Biafra. It will be a country where everyone will be welcomed including Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. It is a country where the rest of Africa will come to emulate from to hastening the development of Africa and giving a hope to our unborn generation.

Free Nnamdi Kanu, Free Biafra
