The Nigeria Army Cantonment in Onitsha, 302 Artillery Regiment, which is popularly known as Onitsha Barracks has become a slaughter house and grave sites for innocent Biafrans. Anambra state has witnessed the highest rate of extra-judicial killings of members of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, by the Nigeria Navy, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police, DSS, and Anambra State Vigilante. The killing of innocent Biafrans has been authorized by President Muhammadu Buhari in collaboration with Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State. The Nigeria Army headed by Lt. Gen. T.Y. Burutai engaged the Rules of Engagement (ROE) to the fullest against peaceful Biafrans whose “crime” is demonstrating peacefully for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, and Director of Radio Biafra/Biafra Television.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Enugu, Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and the Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, Col. Isah Abdullahi have been in the forefront of the extermination of Biafrans in Anambra state. On August 19, 2015, Biafrans in Onitsha were on evangelism for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra, they were singing and sharing fliers and they were shot at close range by the Nigeria armed forces, killing over 10 and injuring scores which led to disability to most. Another gruesome murder of Biafrans in Onitsha occurred on December 2,2015 at the River Niger Head Bridge, Onitsha, when Biafrans who were calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and had occupied the bridge on a peaceful protest were ambushed by the Nigeria armed forces and Police. Over 100 Biafran protesters were killed, several were injured, even most of those arrested have not been seen till date. A group of peaceful and law abiding Biafrans, jubilating over the news of the release of Nnamdi Kanu by a court in Abuja on 17th December,2015 and had gone to the statue of Late Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu in Onitsha for salutation and celebration, were shot at close range and their bodies catered away by the Nigeria Army. The soldiers in Onitsha have always stormed hospitals and clinics where critically injured Biafran protesters are been treated, abducting them to unknown location.
The world watched in horror on May 30,2016, as unarmed Biafrans who had gathered in Nkpor, Anambra state, to pay homage to the Heroes and Heroines of the Biafra Genocide of 1967-1970, were randomly shot dead by Nigeria armed forces and their bodies evacuated to the Onitsha Barracks. Most of those arrested were also taken to the Onitsha barracks, and confirmed reports have stated they are being killed and hurriedly buried in shallow graves there. Currently, there is a coordinated mass murder of Biafrans in Onitsha; Christian civilians are being massacred by the Islamic soldiers that have been deployed into the state for the sole purpose of exterminating Biafrans. This is a call to every relevant human rights agencies to begin investigation of the Nigeria Army, especially the 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, because in most of the shallow graves in the barracks lies bodies of innocent Biafrans gruesomely murdered under the command of Col. Isah Abdullahi. All the corpses of those murdered in the state by the Nigeria Army must be located, identified and given befitting burials. I urge Biafra Avengers to place the Onitsha Barracks in its radar for destruction, for it is accommodating most of the killers of innocent Biafrans.
