Biafrans all over the world has been thrown to a deep state of mourning as another Biafran hero killed by the trigger-happy Nigerian security agencies on May 30 2016 is laid to rest.
Chikodi Umeh is one of the victims of the massacre that took place at Nkpor during the Biafra Heroes' and Genocide remembrance Day celebration. The massacre was mercilessly executed by Nigerian military and police under the command of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Chikodi who hails from Uduma Awoke Ohafia in Abia state had one of his legs shattered by bullets and also had gun shots at the side of his ribs. He died few weeks after the incident, while his burial took place today.
According to the relatives of Chikodi who spoke to Family Writers, the late Biafran hero never gave up on Biafra restoration, even at his point of death.
"He never stopped speaking highly of IPOB and Biafra restoration, even when he was dying. Nobody speaks nonsense of Biafra when he was alive" one of the relatives said.
Others disclosed that the deceased never jokes with Biafra restoration as at his dying bed, he was reported to have said- "it is better to die for Biafra, than to live in hell in the zoo(Nigeria)".
Chikodi believes that his death can never stop Biafra restoration, rather it is a sacrifice that will catalyse the restoration of Biafra. Before he died, he enjoined Biafrans all over the world to remain resolute and fight on for the restoration of Biafra as that is the only thing that will put a stop to the unending sufferings, intimidation and marginalisation of Biafrans in Nigeria.
There is need for the world to intervene on the continued ethnic cleansing that is being executed on Biafrans by the tyrannical Nigerian government led by Muhammadu Buhari.
Hundreds of Biafrans are being hounded and abducted daily by the Nigerian security agencies, even as they are always murdered and buried in mass graves. Biafrans have expressed outrage over the silence of International Organisations, especially the United Nations on the blind eye they have turned on the plight of Biafrans in Nigeria. The right of Biafrans to exit from Nigeria remains indispensable and protected by the UN right of indigenous people to self determination.
United Nations should rise and protect its norms and principles which are being suffocated in Nigeria. The right to self determination is not racially or religiously inclined, therefore there is urgent need to address the Biafran question to avert the impending catastrophical consequences. Biafrans are ready to fight to the end to ensure that the freedom of this generation and the unborn generation is guaranteed.
