OIL WAR: BUHARI MOVES TO SURPASS OBASANJO'S WAR CRIMES IN THE NIGER DELTA

If there is anything more important to the Nigerian government more than the lives of Nigerians- it is the oil in Biafra land. If there is any reason why Nigeria killed over 3million Biafrans during the war that is compared to the Holocaust- it is no other thing than the oil in Biafra land. If there is anything that has kept Nigeria as one ever since her artificial creation by Fredrick Lugard and his girl friend Flora Shaw, it is nothing else other than the oil in Biafra land. If there is any reason why peace and unity will not cease to elude Nigeria, it is surely the oil in Biafra land. If there is a reason why President Muhammadu Buhari proclaimed to the entire country that he is ready to die for Nigeria's unity, it is indispensably because of that oil at the backyard of Biafrans. If there is any reason why Odi community in Niger Delta was bombed by the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, it is surely because of the oil in Biafra. Finally, if there is any reason why President Muhammadu Buhari recalled all the Nigerian military apparatus in the Northern part of the country from where they are combating the rampaging Boko Haram that have been accused of war crimes, only to unleash them on the people of the Niger Delta, it is no other thing than the battle for the oil wells in Biafra land.

On Wednesday eve of July 28, the large number of military troops and sophisticated weaponry equipments that invaded Niger Delta region of Biafra land, left many people in panick as they were left wondering if the infant stage of the Civil War II has just been ignited in Nigeria. In Igweocha(Port-Harcourt) alone, there was a recorded number of 8 luxurious buses and 5 Toyota HiAce buses which conveyed hundreds of military personnels and heavily loaded with their fighting equipments, even as heavy traffic jam characterised the entire roads leading from Rumuokoro roundabout to Bori camp along Aba road in the Rumuola clan of the Igweocha city.

According to reliable sources, the massive movement of Nigeria's military apparatus into the Niger Delta came moments after a massive exodus of the military is observed in some Northern parts of the country. "We have seen several trucks conveying soldiers and military hardware through Makurdi towards Enugu state and we suspect that they are being deployed to the Niger Delta region." a source told Premium Times on condition of anonymity. "It was not possible to count the number of trucks that passed through Makurdi but we are afraid of what could happen if they are unleashed on harmless villages and settlement in the Niger Delta region.

"We don't want what happened in Odi and Zaki Biam during President Olusegun Obasanjo to happen again because most of those people killed were innocent people." The Nigerian military who are being accused of numerous human rights abuses including extra-judicial killings had earlier on Monday July 26 announced through Ibrahim Atahiru, the General officer commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army Enugu, that they are most likely to resort to "kinetic(force) means" if the purported dialogue between the Activists and the Nigerian government fails- a dialogue which the various activist groups in the region have described as a scam.

The massive movement of the military into Biafra land was followed by an announcement on their Facebook and Twitter accounts that they (Nigerian military) have launched an operation coded- "EXERCISE CROCODILE SMILE" in their bid to wage war against Niger Delta Avengers and other freedom fighters in the region whose activities has grounded Nigeria's oil production and drastically dragging the country into recession.

"The aim of the exercise is to practice our Special Forces and other units of the Nigerian Army in Amphibious and internal security operation in riverine environment and also check criminal activities like kidnapping, militancy and piracy and other forms of criminal activities in support of the civil authority" the public statement reads.

International communities and Human Rights organisations, including some notable individuals have advised the Nigerian government that the use of military actions in tackling the grievances and demands of the Niger Delta activists poses a huge threat and danger to the already fragile peaceful cohesion of the country as well as the already porous security system. Nevertheless, all these warning seems to have fallen into deaf ears, as the posture of the Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari after his recent close door meeting with former President Obasanjo, shows that he has already declared war on the entire old Eastern region of the country.

How successful Buhari can be in his war against the freedom fighters  is a huge doubt as the Niger Delta Avengers who sets the pace among other groups with their more sophisticated and diplomatic procedures of operations, have already threatened fire for fire should the Nigerian government underrate their resolve and ignite another genocide in Biafra land.
