NNAMDI KANU CONTINUOUS ILLEGAL DETENTION BY BUHARI: A MOLESTATION TO IGBO LEADERS OF ALL WORKS OF LIFE.

NNAMDI KANU CONTINUOUS ILLEGAL DETENTION BY BUHARI:  A MOLESTATION TO IGBO LEADERS OF ALL WORKS OF LIFE.

An Igbo proverb said "ụra amara otu onye Ovoko bụ ndi Ovoko nile ka amara ya bụ ụra". It is translated thus "A slap against an Ovoko person is a slap against all Ovoko people". One may ask why I remembered this ancient proverb today. The continuous illegal detention of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu De Great even after a court order on 17 December 2015 for his unconditional release and continuous silence or the support of Igbo leaders to President Muhammadu Buhari in continuing detaining of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu necessitated my use of the proverb.

I want to use this opportunity to make Igbo political, religious, traditional, opinion and economic leaders to know that for President Buhari to still defy court orders by refusing to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu after a Federal High Court verdict presided over by Hon Justice Adeniyi Ademola, does not only mean "a court contempt" as it is but a clear way of telling Igbo leaders "who are you and what will you do even as I am holding your son illegally"? It is because of this reason that Fulani herdsmen are terrorizing Igbo in every part of Igbo land, yet I have not hear Buhari condemn it or do anything to stop the menace of the Fulani terrorist.

Nnamdi Kanu is not actually begging for his release, after all Col Sambo Dasuki was arrested even before him but by watching the body language of Buhari portrays that he is saying "Igbos can go to hell as they cannot do me anything". How long will Igbo leaders keep mute and repent by speaking up against Buhari refusal to release Nnamdi Kanu whether you people support his ideology of restoration of Biafra or not? For Buhari, continuous detention of Nnamdi Kanu is a way of making mockery of Igbo race. Buhari is now deriding Igbo leaders by asking who is able to talk to me even as I illegally detain their son.

It has become obvious that the talking of Igbo leaders may not make Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu because God will deal with him first before he will release him, but at least he will know that Igbo leaders are not as cowards as he has already view them to be. As for Nnamdi Kanu, he was aware before his arrest that freedom fighting in Africa is not immune of detention and sometime even death of the activist.

But as the proverb above implied, the continuous illegal detention of Nnamdi Kanu is not just an injustice against Igbo youths who are bent on restoration of Biafra but a molestation, a slap and a mockery on cowardice against Igbo political, religious, traditional, opinion, economic leaders. It will be a display of stupidity for Igbos leaders mentioned above to think that Nnamdi Kanu's detention is just Nnamdi Kanu's detention alone but a detention of all Igbo race. The world wants to see brave Igbo leaders who will come out of hiding and condemn impunity of Buhari against Ndigbo. I rest my case.

  1. I've always being proud to be identified as Igbo – any where I’m in this world. However, the attitude and behaviors of Ohaneze and so-called Igbo elders is changing that. They are not leaders at all but greedy, selfish and coward elders. This young generation of Igbos must be courageous and remain resolute to accomplish God’s divine plan for Igbos currently enslaved and being Islamized in the evil and failed Islamic State of Nigeria. It’s a task that must be achieved. All hail Biafra Nation.
