Dozens of Shia Muslim on procession have died after police opened fire on them.
Nigerian police opened fire on the members of Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria today in Kano leaving several dead.
A witness said the clash started around Tamburawa, on the outskirts of Kano City, when the police tried to stop Shia Muslim protest.
Over a dozen people protesters feared killed.
The police have since deployed heavily armed mobile police officers in the area while the major kano- Zaria Road is completely blocked.
