RELEASE NNAMDI KANU AND CONDUCT REFERENDUM FOR BIAFRA---NOLLYWOOD ACTORS TELLS BUHARI

RELEASE NNAMDI KANU AND CONDUCT REFERENDUM FOR BIAFRA---NOLLYWOOD ACTORS TELLS BUHARI

By Moses Agbo,
Reporting For Family Writers.

After a  stunning rally and massive solidarity visit to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by a group of Artists under the umbrella of 'United Nigeria Artists For Peace and Justice' at Kuje prison, located within the vicinity of the federal capital territory of Nigeria, Abuja, the Artists briefed the numerous media personnel present, even as they jointly condemned the dictatorial tendency of the federal government of Nigeria led by president Muhammadu Buhari and urged him to as a matter of urgency, release the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and other political prisoners being held by the government, and negotiate with them for peace, in order to address their demands.

One of the artists and a notable Nollywood veteran Actor, Ejike Asiegbu condemned the violent approach of the Nigeria government in handling the issue of self determination.
"We are aware about the exercise of self determination across the globe, and how they are being addressed,
"If anyone or region feels otherwise on the Union of Nigeria, the best way is for the federal government to engage them via referendum to determine their faith," he stated.

He further noted that if the union of Afenifere, Arewa and Biafra  are no longer workable in Nigeria, there is nothing bad to conduct referendum for them peacefully to enable peaceful coexistence as good neighbors.

"I remembered before the colonization or amalgamation, if anyone who is traveling to the north is stranded along the way,he or she will majestically walk into an Hausa man's house and sleep comfortably. Same  thing is applicable to other regions be it Biafra or Afenifere," continued.

"We are simply saying no to the unlawful detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafrans in different Nigeria detention facilities just because they are seeking for self determination.

"We all are also making it clear to entire humanity, that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and so many others held unlawfully, just for the sake that they are exercising their right to self determination, is a show of injustice,

"They should be released unconditionally. Enough is enough to the continued indefinite and unlawful incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu even when several courts of competent jurisdiction had earlier quashed all the purported charges leveled against him and ruled for his unconditional release.

"Furthermore, we are resisting the planned Sharia trial for Nnamdi Kanu as recently ruled by the judge in charge of the case, Hon. Justice Binta Nyako {Mrs}," the veteran Actor stated.

In addition, another artist, Bruno Iwuoha supported and said that the federal government should not trample upon the human rights of Nnamdi Kanu and expect peace.
He noted that the best way to resolve any issue is to release him unconditionally and engage him and his group in a round table dialogue to know the way out instead of the federal government's  pretence that all is well, while things are really getting out of hand.
