CALL FOR NNAMDI KANU'S REARREST: CAN NIGERIA AFFORD A SECOND DEATH?

CALL FOR NNAMDI KANU'S REARREST: CAN NIGERIA AFFORD A SECOND DEATH?

Written By Paul Ihechi Alagba,

In this life, there are certain blunders which any sensible human being cannot afford to commit a second time, basically because of its disastrous consequences. This is what differentiates human being from other animals created by God. It is on this very aspect that the renowned American industrialist, Henry Ford said-  “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.”

Today, the political discuss across Nigeria has been saturated and dominated by the desperate moves of the Nigeria government led by president Muhammadu Buhari, to rearrest and re-confine the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra in prison custody, pending a ridiculous trial that is yet to officially commence ever since the IPOB leader was first arrested in October 14, 2015, and illegally detained for about two years. The question every discerning mind is asking is this: Why is the Nigeria government more interested in incarcerating Nnamdi Kanu other than concentrating on the bogus trial they initiated against the IPOB leader, as well as proving beyond every reasonable doubt to the court that Nnamdi Kanu, who is exercising his right to self determination, is guilty of the treasonable allegations they leveled against him and his codefendants? This could have given the court a legitimate reason to remand the defendants in prison, thereby providing the Nigeria government a legal authority to keep the IPOB leader and his overwhelming influence out of circulation; instead of running from pillar to post, and blackmailing the judiciary into committing a judicial sacrilege of ordering for Nnamdi Kanu's rearrest and detention.

The truth is that the Nigeria state will most likely be in for an irredeemable catastrophe should the despotic move by the Buhari led government to have Nnamdi Kanu rearrested succeed. Nnamdi Kanu's rearrest will confirm the Nigeria government as the aggressor and persecutor against the IPOB leader and his multitude of supporters, whose response or reactions shall receive an indisputable level of justification as self defense, with the international community seeing them as endangered species in an enclave where survival of the fittest is prevalent.

One thing the Nigeria government must have in mind is that if the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu in 2015 pushed thousands of his supporters to the streets, his rearrest at this very point in time will definitely push millions of his supporters beyond the streets. If Nnamdi Kanu's arrest in 2015 triggered an insuppressible protest across Nigeria, his subsequent rearrest will spark an indefatigable revolution across the country. If Nnamdi Kanu's arrest and incarceration subjected the Nigeria state to undescribable curses and plagues, his rearrest will invoke an unceremonious fragmentation of the British establishment. Nnamdi Kanu as a human may not be untouchable, but what is inside him and behind him is highly volatile and tensely enraged to tolerate any further provocation. There is no way you would beat a child and tell the child not to cry.

Every now and then, Buhari's government keep showcasing to the world that it is simply an old wine in a new skin, whose dictatorial tendencies is heinously imbibed, and cannot be washed away by mere oral decoration or difference of time. In no distant time, we shall all appreciate Nnamdi Kanu, not only for deconstructing the monumental British colonial empire in Africa; we shall also hail him for exposing the real Buhari of 1984 and his cohorts.

One major feature of tyrants is that they are cowards who hide under the umbrella of a toxic and undeserved power to perpetrate unimaginable atrocities. They are always weary and insecure to dissent voices, in that they are ever desperate to get rid of anything that will expose their fragility and weaknesses. This is why Buhari and the northern hegemony, with the collaboration of the British government, are leading Nigeria into abyss by conspiring to silence Nnamdi Kanu and his lawful agitation.

It is at this very point that one can easily come into conclusion that Buhari's cabinet members and advisers are more dumb  than Buhari himself, because had they been wise and intelligent enough, the persistent blunders of Buhari's government that have left Nigeria on the brink of total collapse could have been avoided. They could have warned Buhari beforehand that the part he is towing leads to nowhere other than perdition.

How Buhari's government defines the right of Biafrans to self determination and how it handles Nnamdi Kanu's prominence will determine whether the 56 year old contraption shall  be given a ceremonious interment or violently balkanised. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
