BIAFRA: THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES OF THE NIGERIAN "UNIFORMED MEN"

To the layman, "Uniformed Men", connotes a group of people who professionally dress in a particular code such that wherever they are spotted, their identity could easily be ascertained.
The mention of the word "Uniformed Men" in Nigeria, sends chill feelings down the spines of the people as there exists, extensive respect for the men and women concerned. Unfortunately however, to these uniformed men who are security operatives in this part of the world, such respect for the profession has greatly waned due to the unholy a
practices of the men. Their activities seem disgusting even when compared with other groups whose professions equally require particular dressing codes even elsewhere, as security agencies.
The Nigerian Army, Police, Navy, Airforce, Civil Defense, Immigration, Customs & Excise, Prisons, National Drug Law & Enforcement Agency, Department of Security Services, Special Anti-Robbery Squad and Road Safety Corps are all security agencies otherwise addressed as "Uniformed Men" in this context, have collaborative job ethics in their operations. Having been armed with this knowledge of whom really the security personnel in Nigeria are, there is the need to adequately examine what duties they are respectively and constitutionally assigned to carry out, to the advantage of the society.
The fundamental duty of whatever security agency, is to ensure maximum protection of life and property, civilised interpretation and enforcement of law and order. Within any given jurisdiction, the security operatives are constitutionally assigned their duties in consonance with their professions.
In the civilised global community and even here in some African countries, security operatives decently execute their functions according to established standards. But in the British contrapted Nigeria, reverse has always been the case. The Nigerian Security Agencies instead of performing according to the rules, engage in dastardly primitive and despotic ways against those they are paid to protect. They engage in various levels of victimization and money extortion amongst others from the people, especially on the roads within Biafraland.
Devoid of displaying humble relationship, civility and befriending the people in the most cordial atmosphere, they shamelessly resort to acts of crass irresponsibility and vampirism. Instead of protecting and assisting the people, the Nigerian Police for example will rather escort the people to unimaginable pains and early graves. Once a person is enlisted in any of these agencies, given security uniform and assigned a gun with bullets, he/she becomes a vampire whose every command/request must be obeyed. They become demigods to their fellow human beings whose tax returns are being expended for their salaries and allowances, etc.
The Nigerian Civil Defense Corps, before they became legally assigned with sophisticated rifles, major principally on guiding the citizens on acceptable behavioral ethics. They were truly friendly to the people. They were helpfully involved in traffic decongestions and other public related assistance. These are no more to be seen. Today they have been authoritatively assigned guns and the resultant consequence hinges on intimidation, extortion of money from helpless motorists, illicit arrests, et cetera.
The activities of these uniformed men in Nigeria is not just only disappointing but exceptionally disgusting as the people are being subjected to all manner of dehumanizing treatments. Something drastic has to be done and promptly too, to curb the excesses of these men. Innocent and harmless citizens are being killed, maimed, abducted and incarcerated at will without recourse. On the 16th of February 2018, Eya Emmanuel, an eighteen (18) year old boy was beaten to a coma by six able bodied Nigerian Prison Warders led by one Eneh E. Eneh at Ngwo, Enugu State. This boy was hospitalized for close to a week. This incident as reportedly obtained, emanated from an elderly woman who pleaded that the victim just plucked some mango fruits situated within the proposed site of the prisons in the same locality. You can just imagine the level of lawless!
Officers of the Nigerian Police and their counterparts in the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) are the worst culprits in this anomaly. They victimize, extort money, kill, maim, abduct and incarcerate randomly with no regard or respect to the rights and protection of the people.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has equally remained complicit and docile in this. The Judicial officers whose duty it is to adjudicate and salvage the situation, keep complicating matters through long detention of persons in prison custody. People have been endlessly awaiting trials without prompt disposal of whatever preferred cases in courts. The law court is supposedly the last hope of the common man but here in Nigeria, converse is the case. The Judiciary has blatantly been aiding and abetting corruption in the country. It is only the privileged few (political sycophants and business elites) who can bribe their way through that are the only survivors. So many disadvantaged citizens are today languishing in various detention cells across the country for years due to this institutionalized wickedness.
Research has proven that the most vulnerable in this circle of injustice and dehumanization, are Biafrans. A trip to the Northern part of Nigeria for over hundreds of kilometers drive, will attest to the fact that no police officer will be seen stopping vehicles and extorting money from the motorists. This barbaric practice is only prevalent in Biafraland where within just a kilometer stretch, are blockades of security operatives comprising of the Police, Army and SARS, freely and shamelessly extorting N100, Road Safety extorting N200 while Civil Defense Corps is collecting N50 respectively. These are brazenly practiced under the full glare of the helpless road users with absolutely no consciousness of going against security ethics. In the same country, the Hausa-Fulanis who claim ownership of Nigeria, enjoy round the clock security coverage and decency. In the Northern region, the Nigerian Security Agencies maintain maximum peace and orderliness amongst the inhabitants. No Northerner is being molested, illegally arrested or sent to jail on trumped up charges.
The Governors and Governments especially within the South-East region (Biafraland), make no effort in addressing this barbaric treatment steadily being meted out against innocent Biafran citizens. But instead, they fan the flames of enslavement and suffering of their own people by creating avenues for the uniformed men to move into the streets and road junctions, perpetuating the same crimes. In all the roads within the South-East, from Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo and Anambra States, it is the same story. Oppressive channels are being created by the powers that be, to further impoverish the people, all in the bid to service the crass interests of their political slavemasters.
These amongst others, are the reasons why Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the able and supreme leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide, vowed to drive this fight for total and unfettered restoration of Independent Biafra, from the evil domination of Nigeria, to it's very logical conclusion.
The International community comprising the United Nations, the European Union, the African Union and of course, all lovers of freedom the world over, should unreservedly lend their support for the conduction of referendum for the restoration of Biafra. This is the only salvaging option that will stem the doomsday for this British enclave called Nigeria.
