The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Enugwu West Senatorial District in Enugwu Province, recently and very successfully, conducted mock referendum campaign cum awareness seminar for Biafrans resident within the area. It was exceptionally remarkable as exhaustive teachings of what referendum entails, were carried out.
The exercise was conducted by the principal officers of the Enugwu West Senatorial district of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by the district coordinator, Mazi Agu Matthew. Before the commencement of the exercise, was a jubilant and open welcome of a courageous Biafran freedom fighter, Mazi Egwuatu Chuks, the IPOB the district media head who also hails from the senatorial district. He was recently released from an extra-judicial incarceration of the Nigerian Police Force in Enugwu where he was being held incommunicado since the 4th of November, 2017, under trumped up charges following an official assignment for his fatherland, Biafra.
The purpose of organizing and conducting the mock referendum was to effectively sensitise the people on the forthcoming Biafra referendum. This borders on voter education, need of the referendum, it's eligibility/credibility before the global community and preparations. The Enugwu West Senatorial district of the IPOB, creatively adopted the concept of the mock referendum within the confines of the district which included Agwu, Aninri, Udi, Oji river and Ezeagu.
In the course of the campaign for this program, both the family members and non-family members of the IPOB, were generally invited and the response was quite encouraging. Participants all positively confessed at the end of the event, all the valuable lessons learnt from the mock referendum. They promised to drive the process further by evangelising their immediate environs and getting the people dutifully aquianted of the need to fully support and participate in the upcoming Biafra referendum exercise.
Two ballot boxes were made available to the public for the exercise. One represented Biafra while the other, represented Nigeria. Depiction of Nigeria being an enclave of animals which were represented by a monkey, a turkey and goats wearing different tags was also part of the show, making the exercise a hilarious one. It was entirely successful, packed full of knowledge and technical acumen.
The Enugwu West Senatorial district media head who also doubles as the Family Writers Press anchorman, was well on hand with his Family Writers Press colleague, Mazi Chetachukwu Chibuzor to report details of the proceedings. The huge successes recorded from the exercise, are testimonials arising from the exhaustive segments of well articulated plans, arrangements and formation by the IPOB family officers in the district. Special appeals went to all the IPOB families in various local government areas and districts in Enugwu State, to endeavor to start up instantly, the open campaign for the upcoming Biafra referendum, and get the people adequately sensitized. More emphasises were made especially for our people who reside within the areas where Radio Biafra London Broadcast, has not presently covered.
