Mazi Benjamin Mmadubugwu, one of the four Biafran star detainees recently released from prolonged extra-judicial incarceration in Kuje prisons by an Abuja-based Federal High Court of Nigeria, was ostensibly welcomed back home with royal treat. He was released with others with attached stringent bail conditions by Justice Binta Nyako. Coming back home to his community of Ubuluisiuzor in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State in Biafraland, Mazi Benjamin Mmadubugwu was joyfully received into the palace by His Royal Highness (HRH) Igwe John I. Ozurumba and his entire cabinet as a dependable son of the soil. He was eulogised for standing firm to discipline in consonance with his upbringing, despite the weight of desperate persecution he was visited with by his captors. He has remained forthright with no trace of incriminating record through all his life.
Report obtained from Family Writers Press Correspondent, Obi Blaise, who documented proceedings in the traditional ruler's palace, stated that the entire community was thrown into jubilation on his return after an elongated illicit detention in Kuje prisons by the federal government.
The Onowu (Traditional Prime Minister) of the community, Chief Sir Alfred Mbanaso and the community's President-General, Chief Dominic Igwilo, respectively poured encomiums on Mazi Benjamin Mmadubugwu for his resilient commitment to the well-being of his people. They restated that their son was unjustiably treated by the Nigerian government for a crime not known to the Nigerian or any International law. His offence both agreed, was his agitation for the freedom of his people and the restoration of Biafra. They assured Mazi Benjamin Mmadubugwu of unfettered support of the entire community in all his undertakings diligently carried out within the ambit of the law.
In his response, Mazi Benjamin Mmadubugwu gave deep appreciation to the Igwe-in-council for the royal and heroic welcome exceptionally accorded him by the entire community. He promised to steadfastly remain committed to the principles of the law, recalling his disciplined upbringing from childhood as law abiding. He further utilised the opportunity to thank all the indigenes of Ubuluisiuzor community for their untainted support and encouragement which saw him through those horrifying experiences in detention. Mazi Benjamin Mmadubugwu assured his people of the ample time he will fully tell them the story of what he suffered and endured in detention.
