BIAFRANS' CIVILISED APPROACH FOR INDEPENDENCE REMAINS IRRESISTIBLY INUNDATING BEFORE THE UNITED NATIONS

BIAFRANS' CIVILISED APPROACH FOR INDEPENDENCE REMAINS IRRESISTIBLY INUNDATING BEFORE THE UNITED NATIONS

United Nations, European Union and African Union remain salient international bodies where Nigeria enjoys tremendous benefits as a member, thereby getting emboldened through her government to continually display callous lawlessness against established laws and charters. The United Nations has ultimately shown her lack of political will and cynical docility in compelling the Nigerian government to accord due respect to subsisting international laws that are clearly protective of self-determination of indigenous peoples, thereby creating the enabling atmosphere for the conduction of Biafra referendum. This is the only civilized means to ascertain the political future of a people. The disappointing stance of the world body is gradually agitating the minds of many young Biafrans, who are legitimately demanding for the independence of their homeland. Most Biafran youths whose patience have been waning, are gradually thinking of alternative measures in realising the Biafran cause. The prevalent body language of the international community which ought to have pro-actively waded into the Biafra/Nigeria conflict, speaks volumes. Most of these Biafrans do clearly understand what is obtainable regarding the implications of taking to alternative means like arms struggle but the dastardly seeming complicity of the international bodies with the Nigerian government is really unfortunate. The groanings of humanity in Biafraland, under the occupational grip of the Nigerian government taskmasters within the West African sub-region, is invariably dragging these helpless youths into violent tendencies.

Based on this, some schools of thought amongst Biafran youths, keep questioning whether  "Biafrans have not agitated enough even with the sacrifice of their lives, to attract the endorsement of the world bodies, for Biafra independence  through the instrumentality of a referendum?  Have Biafrans not been killed enough by the Nigerian government to propel the world to step in and give a definitive separation between Biafra and Nigeria?" These reasonings believe that arms conflict in any region of the world will be tsunamic with monumental devastating effects to every inhabitant across the globe. In the event of war within the present West African sub-region arising from the Biafra restoration struggle, will really record an unprecedented catastrophe. It is very dangerous and unfortunate, that the United Nations, European Union and the African Union have remained blatantly docile in the face of such looming threat to global peace and security. The Islamic government of Nigeria has defiantly pushed Biafrans to the wall through bizarre policies structured on marginalisation, nepotism, bigotry, chauvinism, tribalism and gruesome massacre targeted against law abiding Biafran citizens.

As the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) globally, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, continued with her peaceful agitations for the independence of Biafra, the Nigerian Islamic government, callously responded with crude undemocratic process of brutal clampdown and senseless killings of unarmed and non-violent Biafran agitators. This has led to the death and maiming of thousands of IPOB family members since 2015 as agitations peaked.  Many thanks to the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, for intelligently managing members especially within Biafraland, from resorting to violent responses occasioned by numerous provocations by the Nigerian government and it's agents. Undoubtedly,  this would have degenerated into deadly armed confrontation that would have plunged Nigeria into a theatre of war.

Biafrans globally under the umbrella leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have exhibited encouraging amount of civility as an enlightened society by remaining calm, organized and disciplined despite the provocations and persecutions of the Nigerian government. In the light of these, it yet poses a puzzle,  why the international community remains inactive in the demand for Biafra referendum. Does it therefore mean that the world has specific and biased interest in potentially conflict regions across continents? It is obviously clear that the the United Nations are only interested in providing relief materials via her agencies to the troubled regions instead of pre-empting possible indices that will trigger off sufferings arising from civil unrest. The world body should not rest in her oars in clinically averting issues that will prompt any form of unrest within the West African sub-region. The organised self-determination struggle emanating from Biafrans should never ever be treated with kids gloves. The occupational government of Nigeria within Biafraland must be made to completely and permanently withdraw and allow Biafrans to be. There has been series of protests, rallies and petitions driven enough to woo the international community to the increasing sufferings and brutal persecutions in the hands of the Nigerian government, which may no longer be condoned. Therefore, maintaining the status quo by the United Nations in the face of all these, amounts to express invitation to outright arms conflict and chaos.

The world bodies must effectively activate the powers exercisable in their respective charters concerning self-determination, in order to arrest this deteriorating situation following the Biafran restoration struggle, in the West African sub-region. Delays could be potentially dangerous as Biafran youths are almost out of patience with the relentless dehumanizing treatments of the Nigerian government and the docility of particularly, the United Nations in addressing the plight of the people. The freedom of Biafrans and the unfettered restoration of their fatherland, can never ever be compromised.

A word is enough for the wise!
