NIGERIA: SANE OR INSANE SOCIETY?
"Insanity", to many, appears only applicable to the mentally quarantined or the clinically depressed. The sad truth however, remains that majority of the uninformed, even in this 21st century, have been visited by various grades of insanity at one time or the other. While the mentally diseased or depressed appear most of the time harmless, the grave danger inherent in the life of those in this condition, is that they are wrongly presumed sane, intelligent, strong and powerful.
Nigeria is an entity whose mental status is not only questionable but grossly corrupted. Everything that finds it's way in or out of the country is soiled beyond measure. Kurt Vonnegut stated that: "A sane person to an insane society must appear insane".
HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS
Amnesty International reported accounts on Nigeria as listed beneath, suggest gross violation of human rights, viz:
* Over three hundred and fifty (350) persons were gruesomely murdered by the Nigerian army in the month of December 2015 in Zaria.
* Six (6) sons of Sheik El-Zakzaky were killed by the same Nigerian army.
* Sheik Zakzaky himself, who is the leader of Shiite Islamists in Nigeria has been in detention since 2015 despite various court injunctions ordering his release.
* In the month of October 2018, forty five (45) Shiite adherents were murdered by the Nigerian soldiers in Abuja for daring to stage protests demanding for the immediate release of their leader.
* One hundred and fifty (150) family members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), were dastardly murdered by the Nigerian soldiers.
Above records prove that the country known as Nigeria is a grossly deranged society where human lives are valueless. The police torture, extort money and extra-judicially kill innocent, harmless citizens with reckless abandon. This wave of security breach and lawlessness against the people that are supposed to be protected, constitute stains on the conscience of humanity and must be wholesomely addressed. This mess must be cleansed through the instrumentality of the law which all security operatives must respect. Human rights must be cherished and enforced. The prevalent wave of all shades of inhuman treatments even on the detainees no matter the circumstances, must have to be abolished according to Amnesty International Reports. This is clearly indicative of the fact that the Nigerian society is not just sick but totally insane. This is why President Donald Trump referred to the country as a "Shithole".
The cause of this anomaly stems from disrespect for divinity. The issues of divinity lies not exclusively in worship or prayer but in strict adherence to honesty and justice which are part of the attributes of God Almighty Himself. The reduction of the aforementioned amongst Nigerians is due to the existence of unjustifiable desires and fears.
There are many of us who apparently see Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), over and above the so-called leaders of the Nigerian State by every standard. He had severally warned Nigeria and the entire continent of Africa about the health status of late Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari. Warnings were also given about his inconsistent behaviors, utterances and policies quite unbecoming of a supposed reputable leader of a country. Today, the clear bastardization of what he started is staring all in the face. There exists relentless violation of human dignity, rebellion against good and mutiny against civility/sanity. It can now be seen that all those sanctioning, defending and giving him, his impersonator and their cabals are equally unwell and disconnected from anything benevolent. They are similarly propelled by fear, greed and bitterness. This is what the Bible referred to in John chapter 8 from verse 44 when Jesus Christ stated: "You are of your father, the devil. And you will carry out the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning. And he did not stand in the truth, because the truth is not in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks it from his own self; for he is a liar and the father of all lies".
Nigeria is reeling in insanity because of the so-called Constitution. It has never been accorded respect as the supreme law of the land. The interpreters of the law, only read it but lack the clout to make it effectively practiced. These men and women (Judicial officers/lawyers), in the cause of exerting their professional ethics, often complain that their hands are tied. There also exists pastors who call black, white, in their bid to please the powers that be.
The primary cause of this insanity in Nigeria, is the institutionalized absence of godliness amongst inhabitants. Many Nigerians fail to apply the superior knowledge God blessed them with, in their dealings. They fail to inculcate the attributes of divinity in their minds, thereby resorting to making insane utterances and indulging in misdeeds either willingly or unwillingly, secretly or openly. Divinity and insanity are two opposite words. When divinity occupies the subconsciousness of any man, insanity definitely, lacks control and when insanity takes over, divine attributes give way. Nigeria is a country that is helplessly raped and unless the needed antidote is applied, it will certainly hit the abyss.
