THE BAN OF IPOB ACTIVITIES IN EBONYI STATE BY GOVERNOR DAVE UMAHI AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF MENTAL SLAVERY

THE BAN OF IPOB ACTIVITIES IN EBONYI STATE BY GOVERNOR DAVE UMAHI AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF MENTAL SLAVERY

We know for certain the meaning of a slave; as a person whose freedom has been taken away. A slave can equally be regarded as a person legally owned by somebody and is forced to work for them. It is quite disheartening to learn that a slave is happy in his/her slavery. Ricardo Flores Morgan once wrote, “Nothing is as discouraging as a happy slave.”

In recent time, there was a news break out that Ebonyi State government under the leadership of Governor Dave Umahi, has banned members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) from organising any activity in any part of the state, insisting that the group remains proscribed.

Now, when we talk about slavery, everyone think that slavery is now obsolete or a thing of the past. But are you sure of that? There are so many kinds of freedom; like psychological freedom or mental freedom, intellectual freedom, economic freedom, political freedom, etc. A happy slave is one who has no psychological or mental freedom. That is the reason he does not know that he is a slave, because he is mentally enslaved. This makes it more difficult for such a person to be liberated from that mental slavery. This is because he does not know that he is a slave, but instead, he/she will rebel against it. Psychological slavery is the biggest monster that is destroying or ravaging the entire Africa. Slavery is what made up an African man's entire being or existence. When you talk of a black African man, what will occur to you is slavery. You can argue that a black African man has a slave mentality, he cannot stand on his own.

The methods of enslavement have changed; now they are more subtle, such that we can be happy slaves without even knowing it. Nobody likes being a slave, but what if we are not aware that we are slaves? By this notion we will unravel the mystery behind this happy or intellectual or psychological slavery. That is the type of enslavement the purported govervor of Ebonyi state has found himself. This is the reason why most times these happy, psychological and intellectual slaves exhibit the highest level of gullibility without knowing it. Sometimes, you think that these happy, psychological and intellectual slaves need brain reset or brain surgery.

In recent time, Family Writers Press International gathered how the Fulani terrorists have been ravaging Ebonyi state, killing and raping women, but David Umahi has not banned them. This is hypocritical and exact meaning of happy, psychological and intellectual slavery. The problem of these happy, psychological and intellectual slaves is poverty of the mind. This is because no right minded individual will candidly accept a murderer and ban unarmed and non-violent group. More still, Dave Umahi as the chairman of the South Eastern governor's forum, he did not condemn the killing of a priest, Reverend Father Paul Offu and kidnapping of a traditional ruler in Agbaogwugwu in Awgu L.G.A., Enugu State. Instead, he remembered to ban IPOB activities.

When you are unable to fight back against humiliation, when you remain defiant in the face of terror, it simply defines you as a slave. What are you afraid of? Why is Governor Dave Umahi afriad of IPOB? This is a question asked in two different ways. And that is the question Governor Dave Umahi failed to answer in his communique.

His statement partly read: “The attention of the public is hereby drawn to a Federal High Court order, which proscribed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) since September 2017 and classified it as a terrorist organisation in Nigeria. By that order, the IPOB has become an unlawful organisation, and all it's activities become criminal within the provisions of the Terrorism Act of 2011. Members of the public are therefore warned that any participation in the activities of the organisation, under whatever guise has become an offence punishable under various laws of the country." He continued, “as a responsible government committed to maintaining law and order, the state government is not going to allow IPOB to endanger the lives and properties of their citizens, by organising any form of activity in the state."  But Fulani herders which is the 4th most dangerous terrorist group in the world are allowed to move freely in Ebonyi State. Family Writers Press International correspondent in Ebonyi State has gathered that Governor Dave Umahi has been giving land secretly to Fulani (the Fufulde) herders. As a result of that we now have so many Fulani communities in Ebonyi State.

Our quest as humans is a quest for happiness, or at least we think that is our foremost goal. According to Socrates, "happiness is the end of everything." But what does happiness mean to you? Having a family, job or security? Happiness is dictated by the society. People who rebel against happy slave syndrome

start to see the lack of reason behind the illusions and stereotypes that are imposed on us by this contraption called Nigeria. Nigeria is a country bound in disunity.
