Kanu's Acquittal: Time For The Long Awaited Justice Is Nearer

Kanu's Acquittal: Time For The Long Awaited Justice Is Nearer

On the 13th of October, 2022, the Nigerian Appellate Court accepted the fact that the lower court, anchored by Binta Nyako made a grave error by defending an unjust case of extraordinary rendition. This was a follow up of an appeal presented to the honourable court by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's counsels, which the court listened to, and allowed.

For over a year since Kanu was forcefully renditioned extraordinarily to Nigeria from Kenya, the Nigerian Federal High Court of Binta Nyako has continued to trampled on Kanu's human rights, and denied him justice. The world has since witnessed the level of decay and total abortion of Justice and fairness within the Nigerian system. As a result of this cruelty, the United Nations also instructed that Kanu be released unconditionally, because Nigeria and her government committed what is referred to as "High Crime".

But this is coming at a time when with the help of the federal authorities, the values of the Nigerian judiciary have been destroyed by the regime of the previous chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Tanko, a product of quota system. But one thing must certainly happen; the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will definitely compel those who have no integrity to crack.

This is why the Appeal Court in its quest for justice and fairness, summoned the courage to reclaim the integrity of the Judiciary, by boldly describing the method by which the Nigeria government renditioned Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya, as illegal. It went further to quash all cases against Mazi Kanu, and declared him discharged and acquitted of all charges.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a freedom fighter and a man whose focus has been anchored in the demand for the civil rights and defense of his people; from subjugation, terror, tyranny, and bad governance. He has severally declared his intentions known. So much that he denounced Nigeria because he is a Biafran.

Kudos to the 3-man Judges of the Abuja Appellate court for standing for justice. They heard the Appeal of Nnamdi Kanu and allowed it. The Appeal court decided with facts, that Kanu is not guilty of the bogus Criminal charges lavied on him by the government of Nigeria.

Apparently, while the people of Biafra celebrate, this victory speaks volumes of the disenfranchisement of the ordinary citizen in a lawless society like Nigeria. The torture, dehumanization, subjugation of citizens even at the law courts, which should be the last hope of the common man.

IPOB remains a divine call for the restoration of civility, the decolonization and eradication of all artificial colonial boundaries which has strategically cloned the mentality of Biafrans( a one-time powerful people), turning them to slaves in their own land.

The time has come; for we shall never again sing the Lord's song in a strange land.
