Is Nigeria Violating United Nations Law on Self-Determination?

Is Nigeria Violating United Nations Law on Self-Determination?

We sat in front of the large television screen watching the Catalonians match in the street of Spain in their numbers. They were joyfully and passionately clutching and waving their flags, demonstrating their self determination and collective resolve to be free people and independent nation. We were all mesmerized because of the liberty and deep courage with which they match no harassment, intimidation, killing, arrest, tear gas, torture or detention by Spanish police. The gruesome experience of IPOB members in Onitsha Biafra land on 30th August 2015 startled our reflection. We wondered at how combine team of Navy and Police killed many unarmed Biafrans and injured many on peaceful evangelism for freedom and restoration of Biafra. This also wearies me.

Nigeria government in that singular action betrayed their integrity and became disobedient to the United Nation resolution on rights of indigenous people. At the just concluded UN general assembly in New York United States of America,BUHARI has said" as we engage in these annual debates, we need remind ourselves of the principles that led to founding of the United nations. Among those are peaceful co- existence and self-determination of people, in this context, Mr. president, the unresolved question of self determination for Palestinian people and those of western Sahara, both nations having been adjusted by the United Nations as qualifying for this in alienable right must now be assured and fulfilled without any further delay or obstacles, The international community has come to pin its hopes on resolving the Palestinian issue through the two states solution which recognize the legitimate right of each state to exist in peace and security. The world has no more excuse or reasons to delay the implementation of the long list of Security Council on this question. Neither do we have any moral right to deny any people their freedom or condemn them indefinitely to occupation and blockade". HE intently canvassed for the creation of independent state of Palestine but in Nigeria, under his watch and command, the combine team of Navy and Police are incessantly killing in broad daylight unarmed Indigenous people of Biafra rightly asking for self determination and freedom as independent nation.

They are harrassing, arresting, torturing and detaining anybody caught listening to voice of freedom" RADIO BIAFRA"or have RADIO BIAFRA APP" on his or her mobile device, BUHARI should justify his words to the United nation convention “Neither do we have the moral right to deny any people their freedom or condemn them indefinitely to occupation and blockade" THE Catalonian match for freedom and independence in the city of Spain was neither interrupted by Police and Military forces were never employed to massacre them. Indigenous people of Biafra are daily hounded, killed at will, imprisoned and utter mostly humiliated by BUHARI and his Armed forces. Why is the world seemingly silent? Why is BUHARI preaching freedom for Palestine while numerous IPOB members are languishing in various cells in Biafra land? Why Buhari did intelligently avoided UN security meeting on BokoHaram? The listener of BUHARI’S speech at UN meeting includes heads of states, diplomats and lovers of freedom. What they did not hear while Buharis speech lasted was the cry of marginalization, incessant massacre, impoverishment, terrorism, facts and figures on Biafra genocide committed by British supported Nigeria. United nation should as a matter of urgency look inwards and confirm the freedom and independent state of Biafra as enshrined in the UN charter for indigenous people.
