“Detention and arrests are not the solution to the Biafra issue” – Shettima Yerima

“Detention and arrests are not the solution to the Biafra issue” –  Shettima Yerima

(AYCF PRESIDENT) National President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Shettima Yerima has warned the Federal Government of Nigeria to take the agitation for an Independent State of Biafra seriously and look for ways peaceful ways and means to address the issues.
Shettima Yerima

According to Yerima, " The government must be seen to be doing justice and discussing issues the way they are. If we continue to pretend that things are normal and people are saying they are not normal and are agitating, one day it might not be funny.

In as much as we pretend that things are well, you can see this call for Biafra is getting more popular internationally.” “I pray and I pray the leaders begin to see reasons to look at the issues critically. If they feel they are being marginalised and you underestimate and threaten them by arresting them and incarcerating them, just know that the more you do that, the more they get international and local sympathy.

At the end of the day, you would be marvelled at what that amounts to. It could metamorphose into something beyond your expectation” Continuing Yerima stated that, “Detention and arrests are not the answers to the issue. Issues must be brought forward for discussion. We must disagree to agree so that we can form a nation.

We are not yet a nation. Under international laws which Nigeria is signatory to, the right to see for nationhood is guaranteed. Thus, if people decide that they don’t want to be part of your project, there is nothing you can do about it. Whatever you do is just to buy time. So why don’t you look at the issues the way they are and address them once and for all? This is what I think and it is absolutely my opinion."

  1. TO THEM, ARREST AND INTIMIDATION USING SECURITY FORCES IS THE BEST! BUT THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG! NO AMOUNT ARREST AND INTIMIDATION WILL DETER BIAFRANS FROM THE STRUGGLE FOR REPUBLIC OF BIAFRA! LET THEM GO AHEAD AND PRETEND THAT ALL IS WELL!THE WORLD KNOWS THAT ALL IS NOT WELL! AND IT WILL NEVER BE WELL UNLESS BIAFRA IS FREE FROM BRITISH-NIGERIA!

  5. Hope the enslaved Nigerian Government will not be deceived by their colonial master (Britain) and think that We (BIAFRANS) don’t know what we are talking about, or that we are only youth that didn’t witnessed the civil war? Hope the Government will not take ugly trend of shooting and provoking the already wounded people of Biafrans as they carry out their peaceful protest against the illegal detention of our amiable Director Nnamdi Kanu?
I enjoin the Government of Nigeria not to trust on their arms or on fake support from Britain, contained in their affirmation and support for contracted expired country called Nigeria unity letter issued1
If Nigeria arm forces abuse our right of expression and peaceful protest; that will amount imprisonment and intimidation of our right, which will trigger mayhem and violent, No abuse of our right and intimidation will be taking lightly; NIGERIA BE WARNED!!! Any intimidation and harassment by Nigeria arm forces will definitely lead to total revolution that will escalate above control to eventual disintegration of Nigeria and thus fast track actualization of Sovereignty State of Biafra!!!
Finally, whether they attack us or allow peace to rain: BIAFRA IS AT HAND! It must surely com!!!
