BEFORE NIGERIA DENIES HIJACK OF VESSEL BY MILITANTS IN BIAFRA

BEFORE NIGERIA DENIES HIJACK OF VESSEL BY MILITANTS IN BIAFRA
By Ifeanyi Chijioke
(For Family Writers)

After the news of the hijack of vessel by militants broke out, I was convinced that militants are on it again, this time might not be resource control but a protest against injustice, disobedience to rule of law and clampdown on Biafrans, everybody is entitled to personal protest the way he can. I can’t pinpoint their reason for this renewed hostility because it started in a decisive time, few hours Tompolo’s arrest warrant was publicized. This pointed accusing fingers at Tompolo who immediately came up and quashed the notion that he is responsible for attacks on oil pipelines.

While I believe this could be a dawn of anarchy as set by Muhammed Buhari when he denied bail given to Kanu by the court, I also believe Tompolo because he is losing the loyalty of some southern Biafran youths who want him to openly declare for Biafra as Asari Dokubo has done, but that does not stop the youths from confronting Nigeria if any attempt is made to witch-hunt Tompolo, it would be a cause to enthrone their spring and settle their grievances, Tompolo is a no-go-area but they are more concerned about Nnamdi Kanu whom they now see as a leader in general. To militants, Nnamdi Kanu has united them with their brothers even-though Jonathan’s election played a remarkable role in dismantling the divide and rule tactics of Nigeria. Eastern Nigeria was divided so as to enable them subjugate, and control Biafrans. They have lost the game now, the spell of division is over and you can’t hold the leader of Biafrans and expect militants to fold their hands when they have everything to effect his release.

Yes, IPOB are peaceful people and have tried so much to control all Biafrans, but militants might alter that move, they are militants and know only how to shoot and destroy, while IPOB does not shoot and destroy, controlling the militants or stopping them from protesting the unlawful incarceration of their leader in their own known way is what IPOB might not be able to do. Hence they have hijacked a vessel and threatened to blow it up, they have also destroyed oil installations, if that is what is needed for Nigeria to respect rule of law and release an innocent man, despite the fact it is against the principles of IPOB, I personally support and would even aid militants in Biafra to cause more havoc, for Christ sake! This country only understands violence, shedding of blood and carrying of arms.

Speaking to a group of militants in Port Harcourt, I was brought to a club that very night, my friend had introduced me as a Biafran journalist, guarded by prostitutes, expensively looking prostitutes rounded a table, I saw assorted drinks, then two bottles of emptied Hennessey and Mac-dowels. I sat down strangely as they made jest of me. “you journalists, you go out and say what we did not say, until we bomb all pipelines and kidnap all oil workers, foreign and local, you won’t take us serious” smartly, I knew they were drunk so I pleaded “can I have interview with you tomorrow morning?” “give him a room with a bani, tomorrow morning we talk” they commanded my friend who took me to a room as I told him I am a married guy, bani is prohibited, self discretion.

Tomorrow morning came abruptly, I was in their room as they observed their fetishism, I asked them why the sudden hostilities, hostage taking and threat to blow up everything. “ for that innocent man, for Nnamdi Kanu, we will do something unimaginable, seizure of vessel is a tip of iceberg, we shall destroy this country and make sure no foreigner enters here again, this won’t be a battle but a war, total war” speaking further, they said “ IPOB can protest and allow them kill them but we militants, we are not IPOB under radio Biafra, we are Biafrans on our own and we want our leader released, Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of all Biafrans and not only those under radio Biafra, we will get him out and we shall only stop when he says we should stop, we are aware he forbids our way of demanding things, that is why we shall stop at his command or when he is released, we will also see him once he is released because we effected his release”

My long interview ended with just a few words as they left, speaking to a high chief in Akwaibom who spoke to me on condition of anonymity, he said “ they the militants seized the vessel and if FG did not handle the matter now, they will surely blow it up with those innocent foreigners, FG should not play games, denying reality is a joke, the FG might choose to deny it because it would affect Nigeria so much, the countries those foreigners came from will question Nigerian government, and when they hear their people were killed because Buhari refused to release an innocent man and obey rule of law, those countries will come heavily on Nigeria” speaking further after a couple of questions on how this can be settled, he said “release their leader, we are all Biafrans, those militants are Biafrans even-though they are going against the principles of IPOB, they are personally protesting the illegal imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu who they see as being persecuted just how Jonathan was persecuted during election, they are saying enough is enough”

Meanwhile, it is important to recall that ultimatums had previously been given by militants bothering on the incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu, nobody is in agreement with them to protest, the election of Jonathan killed the division in Eastern Nigeria and returned them as one. Everybody is entitled to protest the imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu just as everybody personally protested the handling of Jonathan.
“Nigerian government might choose to deny the hijack, until the vessel and foreigners are blown up, they won’t start taking actions, we IPOB will continue being peaceful but will not dictate for people who personally wish to protest. We shall not deny them, they are Biafrans and they have been doing this before IPOB came into being, if Nigerian government want to end all these problems, they should release Kanu and dialogue with him” Mr Abel Nkemjika said
