BIAFRA: OPEN LETTER TO THE CHURCH, POPE, CHRISTIAN LEADERS AND COUNTRIES

BIAFRA: OPEN LETTER TO THE CHURCH, POPE, CHRISTIAN LEADERS AND COUNTRIES

I could not stop shedding tears as I watched Biafra television, I saw innocent and peaceful men calling on God massacred, there were so many questions left unanswered. In the pool of their blood, brothers held them in tears, praying and wishing there is still live left in them. The Nigerian army led by a top Islamic leader, just brutalized them, firing live ammo without pity. What was their crime? They are Biafrans that just gathered to pray to God whom they believe can give them independence and free them from the shackles of Islam, slavery and subjugation.

I have never before written to the church, Pope, any Christian leader or country. I am of the simple belief that freedom fighting is not a religious matter, it is a political matter and as a matter of sanctity should be strictly political and engaged with politicians.
I write to the church, Pope, Christian leaders and countries because Nigerian military led by Sharia-freak Muhammed Buhari violated religious law. God is everywhere and wherever people stay and worship God turns a temple. Biafrans had gathered on a holy ground, in the temple of God and the Nigerian forces without a single respect for God, invaded Biafrans on their praying ground and massacred them, killing 10 and injuring over 100 with many arrested and scores forced to disappear. As at today I write to your lordship’ death toll has risen to 22.

I am very much aware of the role of the church in stabilizing the society and assisting politicians in prayers to achieving a better world. However, it is also important that I remind the church the need to condemn in strong words evil and anything or act that threatens the precious life God gave to mankind, irrespective of where it is happening or who is receiving it and irrespective of religious inclination. Biafra is a religious nation that is a fact we cannot dispute, over 99.9% of Biafrans are Christians or believe in the death of Jesus. Chiukwuokikeabiama(God de creator) is the God of Biafrans. CHIUKWU- God, OKIKE-Creation, Abiama- Come close and you will know Him. Biafrans worship that God of Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Elijah and that God Jesus prayed to, that his father in heaven is whom Biafrans worship. Our names are religious and everything we do is religiously inclined.

I am not dragging Biafra into a religious struggle but I am simply highlighting whom we are. When Buhari prayed UN assembly to grant Palestine freedom, he did it simply because Palestine people are Muslims and not because he knows them or holds their mandate. They share same faith with him and I am not ruling out that Biafrans are on the receiving end of everything Muslims feel is bad against them. We are vulnerable, a species of terror that we are targeted even when Muhammed is blasphemed in far away Norway. Nigeria is an Islamic country as registered in Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) and according to a recent report we Biafrans are in top ten of most persecuted Christians. We understand people of God must endure persecution but we did not understand why silence must be and solution not voiced to end our bloodbath.

Unarmed Biafrans protesting illegal detention of Nnamdi Kanu
On 9th February while on our praying ground/session at National school Aba in Abia state, worshiping God and asking of his protection, we were rounded and without waiting for us to finish observing our worship or honouring our God. The Nigerian military sent us to our early graves while in prayers, shot sporadically as I wondered if God is still with His Children. My bone of contention is why must religious men and women be murdered before their God and in holy place or in their holy act. This is the reason for my kind petition to the recipients that we may be considered and this resolved before it’s too late. In 1967 politicians and Christian countries kept silent while Christian brothers were massacred in Biafra. Thankfully, only the church came to our aid and much they tried during that period of brutal genocide. Had the church intervened before the war, to solving the problem before it resulted to that genocide, it would have saved lives, time and risk.

The scenario is playing out today and it would be unwise not to correct the mistakes you made in 1967 build-up to avert loss of lives. There is a deafening silence to the premeditated murder of Biafrans just exactly how it started back then and it is snowballing into war having activated self-defence. During 1967, just because nobody talked, Biafrans activated self-defense and dawn of genocide came. I also call the attention of Christian countries to the plight of Christians in Biafra land, we are being persecuted by Islam and Buhari have demonstrated hatred for the sake of our religion. Out of frustration, having sworn to spread Sharia in Nigeria and having seen Biafrans as resistance, he sought to exterminate us and fulfill his promise to his Muslim faithfuls made in Kaduna. There is need to speak out against evil and unwarranted persecution, there is need to voice out in support of solution to end unkind murder of your brothers and mankind entirely.

Biafrans-Christians are not calling for arms or war, we are simply calling for justice and calling for freedom. We forbid killing and that should not form basis to attack and kill us worthlessly. There is need to call Buhari to order and compel relevant bodies for the independence of Biafra, for we have paid price of independence and shown without doubt that we are ready to be on our own. We have the qualities to make a nation and contribute our quota to the growth of the world and making of a peaceful and better world.
Yours persecuted brother in Christ, Ifeanyi  Chijioke of Family Writers.

  4. I wonder why our men and women of God Almighty will sit back and refuse to condemn the barbaric acts of the uncircumcised Hausa / Fulani plus their Yoruba counterparts. The silence of the Bishops, priests and religous leaders of christian assembly is sickening. The Cardinals John Onaikan and Anthony Okogie have spoken out. All the eastern states religous leaders are expected to condemn what is happening in the Nigeria state together with their aim to exterminate our brethren which include torture of even women.

  7. I believe all the southern eastern leaders and their religious leaders are dinning and winning with the Nigeria enemies that is why they are keeping silence about this issues and acting as if nothing is happening. Even the whole world is keeping quiet but one thing is certain... "CHUKWU OKIKE ABIAMA" will see us through.

  8. BIAFRANS SHOULD NOT GO TO ANY YORUBA CHURCH ANYMORE NAMELY(DEEPERLIFE, REDEEM, WINNERS, CHRISTEMBASSY)ETC ALL THESE CHURCHES ARE KILLING THE BIAFRANS INDIRECTLY. HOW MANY OF ALL THESE CHURCHES IS PREACHING AGAINST WHAT IS HAPPENING IN BIAFRALAND TODAY? WHO AMONG THEM IS SPEAKING AGAINST THE UNNECCESSARY MASSACRE OF BIAFRANS? BIAFRANS WAKE-UP THE YORUBAS ARE KILLING US MORE THAN THE HAUSAS DID. THINK OF THE CIVIL WAR WHO MADE THE BIAFRANS TO LOOSE THE CIVIL WAR ARE THE YORUBAS, TODAY THEY USE ALL THIER CHURCHES IN SYPHONING AND TAKING AWAY THE BIAFRAN MONEY IN THE NAME OF TIGHTS, DONATIONS, AND OFFERINGS BUT WHEN SOMETHING HAPPEN IN BIAfraland they will not speak against it, which means that they are supporting buhari in what he is doing. so as THIER MEDIA NEWSPAPERS WHO NEVER WRITE UP WHAT IS HAPPENING IN BIAFRALAN BECAUSE BUHARI GAVE THEM MONEY TO CLOSE THEIR MOUTH. THEIR CHURCHES IS DOING THE SAME BY COLLECTING MONEY FROM POOR BIAFRANS AND SIDING AGAINST THEM. SO PLEASE BIAFRANS DONT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY FORM YOUR CHURCHES AMONG YOURSELVES.
