UK EXIT AND CAMERON’S RESIGNATION WILL COST NIGERIA

UK EXIT AND CAMERON’S RESIGNATION WILL COST NIGERIA

The vote has been counted and UK will finally leave EU, a development that is politically dangerous. The UK prime minister has been vigorously backing “remain” and has pleaded UK to remain as leaving would not only destabilize them but affect a lot of things contrary to the joy of independence the common British people seek.

His call was not enough and the joy of independence overshadowed the common Brits and by Friday morning, the dawn of independence was already glittering. From Downing Street, David Cameron addressed the world of his intention to resign. The news took people by surprise but gave the people of Biafra momentum over their purported referendum to leave Nigeria.

The resignation is not cowardice but not far from the political implications that would follow suit. The voters were not well sensitized on the political implication of leaving EU and Cameron is very much aware of that. This devoid of doubt prompted his resignation because it is like falling from glory to build another glory. The urge is slim and the shock would not give way to carry on, resignation is a good option or depression would set in.

This development will bite UK political class but will give every common citizen of UK a sense of pride. This is because UK will lose face, protection and favor from EU, such will be immediately reflected on UK position in Nigeria- Biafra issue that has gone on for decades. UK has hypocritically opposed referendum in Nigeria for the Biafra nation that was forcefully re-annexed in 1970. UK has come under criticism for not promoting referendum, but allowed their own referendum instead of use military action or kill “leave” campaigners as Buhari is killing Biafra agitators. The worst hypocrisy was keeping quiet while a British citizen is persecuted for only asking for self-determination that was rightly granted UK.

Nigeria is seen as economic hub of Britain and even though Biafra is the core, but Nigeria is used to control Biafra, the Northern oligarchy simply plays the script of Britain. Biafra has won every argument and should be left to go but UK by all means still want to pin down Biafra as the emergence of Biafra would end the economic domain Nigeria stands for. With the just concluded referendum, it is widely believed that Nigeria will follow suit as it would be obviously immoral to sustain the continued murder of Biafra people asking for exit while you enjoy your freedom of choice. With the just concluded referendum, Britain has lost the locus stand or moral ground to sustain or keep backing Buhari’s irresponsible policy on Biafra.

Britain has been the backbone of Nigeria, they supported Nigeria in 1967 genocide that took over 5 million Biafran lives and children over 1.5 million starved to death. Britain as the colonial master of Nigeria has fervently lobbied for Nigeria to boycott referendum which they believe would result to dismantling of the economic establishment. In some quarters, it is believed that Nigeria has no sovereignty but enjoy the sovereignty through Britain. If this is anything to go by, Nigeria will inevitably learn from Britain and give in to referendum.

Cameron to have resigned is testament that he cannot hold unto many political ideas he held, the idea of sustaining territorial integrity of Nigeria at the cost of bloodshed will be altered by the exit and resignation of Cameron. The simple belief is that self-determination is sacrosanct and not even any leader can oppose that, Buhari’s opposition to Biafra self-determination will wither, here is the end of the road. Britain has been supportive of Nigeria in crushing Biafra agitators and denying referendum that is a win-win solution to self determination quest. There is every indication that the most practical loss is his position on Biafra, UK is bound to shift ground as she has shown that self-determination, Biafra has paid more price than is sacrosanct.

  2. This is just the beginning of the disintegration of United Kingdom. Soon, Scotland will conduct referendum to become an independent nation. Wales is looking into that option too. UK, an evil kingdom like former USSR cannot stand. Same with Nigeria. Nigeria MUST be divided into 3 or 4 republics - otherwise, it will become another Somalia or Afghanistan. Tyrant Buhari and his northern jihadists and Yoruba cowards are wasting their time urging for “One Nigeria.” Shame on them for killing Biafrans for ‘One Nigeria.” What a bunch of hypocrites and evil people.
