A NIGERIAN DOCTOR STEALS PATIENT'S KIDNEY DURING OPERATION

A NIGERIAN DOCTOR STEALS PATIENT'S KIDNEY DURING OPERATION

This is the kind of news one hears from the contraption called Nigeria. All the years I have been hearing about different kinds of theft but stealing someone’s kidney by a medical doctor is quite strange. A doctor whose job is to protect life decided to engage in an unimaginable crime.

A medical doctor by name Hassan Yakubu in a hospital in Adamawa State has been arrested by the Nigerian police following reports that he was among the team who removed the kidney of a 24 year old patient.
The patient whose name is Isa Hamma is currently in a life threatening condition since the removal of his kidney.

During the cause of investigation, it was gathered that the doctor, Yakubu Hassan is an uncle to the patient (Isa Hamma). A relation to Isa Hamman revealed that Dr Yakubu treated him at his Jimeta Clinic, for stomach complications. As if that wasn't enough, he went ahead to operate on him and removed his kidney in the process.

Three days after the operation, Isa could not pass out urine. The complications further degenerated with his face swollen which prompted them to return to the doctor who later referred them to the Federal Medical Centre Gombe. Isa and his relation arrived Gombe hospital and there, the medical personnel discovered that Isa’s kidney was missing. "Who removed Isa's kidney?" became a very big puzzle. All efforts made to reach the Police Public Relation Office proved abortive.

For this kind of ugly scenario to have happened one is left with no option other than to begin to wonder the type of country we live in. If a doctor could be bold enough to remove his patient's kidney, people will be afraid going to the hospital for any kind of treatment at all. This shows that Nigeria is a failed State. The earlier we embrace the truth, the better for us all. Give Biafra and set us free from this abomination.
