NNAMDI KANU: MAN OF THE PEOPLE

NNAMDI KANU: MAN OF THE PEOPLE

By Paul Ihechi Alagba

There are few people who have captivated my attention, making me to wonder if some people are actually created in a world apart from others and landed unto this earth for a specific purpose. They are people who are destined for the restoration of human dignity, people who are inert to the subjugation and marginalisation of all people- not minding race, religion or colour; people who are repulsive to the profane of the sanctity of human life, people who can rise up and ask questions nobody else dares to ask, people who are ever ready to speak the dreaded truth not minding what the cost would be, people who are like shepherds that are ready to lay down their life in defense of their sheep, instead of sacrificing their sheep to evade the devouring lion. These species of legends emerge once in a century whence their heroics remains immortal.
It is indeed a great pleasure to be one among millions of people witnessing the exploits of the greatest emancipator of this generation whose name is NNAMDI KANU.

The emergence of Nnamdi Kanu took many by surprise just like the birth of Yahshua took the Biblical King Herod unawares. According to the Holy scripture, King Herod The Great was very envious, and extremely anxious and desperate to prevent the birth of the greatest king and Saviour(Yahshua) that would ever live, as predicted by the prophets of old; nevertheless, when the 'Magi' broke the news that his worst nightmare is now a reality, he was completely devastated and disappointed. King Herod couldn't control his rage to the extent that he had to unleash his blood thirsty Army to massacre thousands of newly born babies in Bethlehem and beyond, just to make sure that the newly born King is eliminated; but it all turned out that he is waging a war against an immortal destiny. Now comparing the antagonistic character of Herod against Yahshua and that of the Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari against Nnamdi Kanu and the generality of Biafrans whose undiluted support solidarity to Kanu has kept him alive in the hands of Buhari, ever since he was abducted by Buhari's henchmen- the DSS, one would be left in no doubt that history has different ways of repeating itself- either directly or otherwise.
Several prophecies from different prophets has it that a man shall emerge, at whose command, the walls of subjugation, oppression and genocide inherent with Nigeria shall be destroyed. You don't have to see Nnamdi Kanu to believe that he is a God-sent for the liberation of Biafrans, you only have to hear his voice and its reverberations will transmit the bloodstream of truth, honesty and wisdom across your veins and you will never remain the same again. The purpose of this article is not to exaggerate what Nnamdi Kanu stands for Biafrans, however, it is meant to elucidate the mystery of what Nnamdi Kanu represents to Biafrans which has eluded our adversaries.

When the British colonists created Nigeria and unsolicitedly amalgamated the Northern and Southern protectorates in 1914 through Fredrick Lugard and his wife Flora Shaw, it was certain to them that the experiment of merging different section of people demarcated by diverse cultural beliefs and religious backgrounds will not survive the test of time. They actually wanted to shield their conscience from the impending explosion of the ticking time bomb they planted in Africa, hence they decided to give their invention a life span of a century which was properly documented. Nigerians were fully aware of the blunder of mixing oil and water together but they were so psychologically brainwashed with the 'glory of slavery', that they opted to sacrifice their natural identity and inheritance on the altar of  those who created the problem. Such foolishness and stupidity can only be second if not equal to a dog that can answer any name given to it by its opportuned owner despite being originally known as 'dog'. The tragedy is that the so called Nigerians are ever ready to execute genocide against a section of the people just to maintain the fake union. The declaration of a genocidal war against Biafrans by other regions of Nigeria in the late 60s is an obvious attestation to this fact.

After the civil which saw the killing of over 3million Biafrans- which President Buhari has been boasting of being among the chief executioners, no one else dared to speak out against the absurdity of being a Nigerian. Even the few who tried to raise their voices were silenced either by assassination or by the influence of wealth. Every successive government were desperate to avert the fulfillment of the prophecy which has it that in no distant time, the contraption called Nigeria shall cease to exist, hence they were wary of any rearing voice that poses a threat to their source of wealth and embezzlement. President Muhammadu Buhari- an old wine in a new skin hasn't been left out of this category as he is being confronted by a destiny that can neither be killed nor destroyed.

The fact that Buhari is hell bent on sending Nnamdi Kanu to prison shows that like King Herod, he is deeply afraid and worried that a more powerful and mightier personality has come to overshadow his reign. Unknown to President Buhari, Nnamdi Kanu has not come to overshadow him, he has not come to topple or take over his kingdom, Nnamdi Kanu never asked for Buhari's Arewa to be given to him neither did he asked for Buhari's lovely Oduduwa to be granted to him- Nnamdi Kanu is solely on a divine mandate to liberate his people-Biafrans. Buhari is not a Biafran and can never be a Biafran. So why should he vow that he would rather die than give way for an ideology whose time has come? Why is Buhari trying to stop the unstoppable? There is need for Buhari to know that Nnamdi Kanu does not just represent himself, he is a symbol of millions of Biafrans scattered all over the world and ready to return to a home free of subjugation and marginalisation; Nnamdi Kanu represents the general will of Biafrans. Buhari has no other option than to thread with caution and release the man of the people from his dungeon, because what is happening to Nigeria is just the beginning of the end
