NIGERIA: THE SECRET RELEASE OF A CONVICTED TERRORIST LEADER
Kabiru Umar aka Kabiru Sokoto

Kabiru Umar aka Kabiru Sokoto, one of the leaders of the number two most deadly terrorist group in the world, boko haram, was the mastermind of the Christmas day bombing of St. Theresa's Catholic Church , Madalla Niger State in 2011. This claimed many lives and property that fateful day, leaving so many families in tears. Kabiru Sokoto as he is fondly called by his members single handedly detonated the IEDs in the Church premises just as the mass was almost over. Note this: 90% of the victims of this deadly attack were Biafrans.

This is the implication of remaining in the contraption called Nigeria, which was amalgamated by the British in 1914. This fraudulent union today is ruled by a tyrant and an Islamic fundamentalist Muhammadu Buhari who doesn't hide his hatred for the Biafran people rather he claims Biafrans hate him. Since the emergence of Buhari as the president of Nigeria, over two thousand boko haram members have been released from detention and recruited  into the military while about three thousand Biafran soldiers were retired unjustly and over 4000 Biafrans activist killed by Nigerian soldiers.

Kabiru Sokoto, who was sentenced to life imprisonment and so many others that were convicted with him have been secretly released by President Muhammadu Buhari. There is every tendency that the reason behind his release was simply because he was a Fulani and a Muslim just like Buhari. The question is: what could have led to the secret release of a convicted terrorist who was involved in the wasting of so many lives? Could it be that Buhari and other northern leaders sponsored him in the atrocities he committed? Does it mean that Kabiru Sokoto is more important to Buhari than the lives of the numerous Biafrans that were cut short in that ugly incident? These are mind bogging questions that require answers from the international community and Buhari himself.

Nigeria is an illegal country having expired in 2014 from the date of amalgamation. It is only in an expired entity like Nigeria that the judiciaries condone illegality at the expense of legality. Again, why should a notorious convicted terrorist be released to walk free while Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who was only preaching for the emancipation of his people be subjected to torture and extra judicial incarceration in underground cell? This is a case of freedom for the guilty and jail for the innocent. Kabiru Umar Sokoto is a well known terrorist but Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a renowned freedom fighter, human right crusader, strong activist and now a prisoner of conscience.

We have come to a stage where the most barbaric of all persecutions is unleashed on the indigenous people of Biafra by the most barbaric of all nations, the Islamic Republic of Nigeria. A situation whereby  Biafrans can no longer express themselves freely and enjoy their fundamental human rights without being abducted , tortured , assassinated or imprisoned by Buhari, his DSS and the military.  Buhari has released all boko haram convicts but chose to hold the Biafran leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafran activists in detention.

President Muhammadu Buhari should bear in mind that no sin goes unpunished. No amount of denial can convince any right thinking individual from realizing the truth; bearing in mind how he, Buhari and other northern leaders used boko haram to clinch power in 2015. In all these, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released, Biafra must be freed and our land restored.
