BIAFRA: THE COST OF FREEDOM

BIAFRA: THE COST OF FREEDOM

By Nwabueze Hope Ikenna

Upon sand and blood is our freedom found, purchased with psyches as price, indeed garments soaked in blood in our quest for freedom, souls and bodies separated in pains, pleasure and bodies lowered in victory. Life is bound to freedom and life without freedom is like existence without life. Though freedom is free, but ours was seized by some entities refusing to let go.

Shall freedom be retrieved? Behold freedom enslaved in the prison of tyranny, guarded by death; and I heard the voices of those killed crying for freedom. Oh! Freedom, if I negotiate your liberty on the round table of corruption with the foe, or ponder on the pool of selfishness at the expense of your liberation, may I be forgotten in the list of your heroes, so dear lovers of freedom and friends of goodwill; let us arise and contend with death, the enemy of freedom, that we may prevail unto freedom, with our slogan, no blood no freedom: if we perish, if we die fighting for freedom, so be it.

So, for this noble course, I extend my greetings to you all. You, noble men of excellence, you are worthy to be honoured. May the rain descend moderately on your lands. May the fountain of excellence never cease from your homes and may your families dwell in peace and ceaseless fruitfulness. Therefore, remember now, O! Dear leaders that are set on higher places of the world, how on a round table of sacramentum you made and constituted a constitution of freedom for all and Sundry: thereby breaking the yoke of slavery, but now, behold and judge for yourselves , are all indeed free? Please, let us give freedom a chance to reign. Arise, you men of esteemed integrity over silver and gold, arise. Let your voices be heard on air by even the dogs and swines.

Among men: let treachery and sabotage be dully prosecuted and  let freedom be the embodiment of nationhood. Then shall the will of the populace be done and the purpose of your noble efforts on  freedom  would be achieved. Hear O! noble men of truth the appealing voices of the down trodden. Behold, denials, brutality, tyranny are the order of the day.

Freedom is a fundamental human right that must be respected. We are free born,  idealistic and progressive in nature. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of citizen Nnamdi Kanu (POC) the Director of Radio Biafra / Biafra Television (BT) must be released unconditionally since United Nation Charter for self-determination gave him right to agitate for a sovereign state of Biafra. Therefore, the Nigerian government do not have the right to abuse his fundamental human right.
