Women’s rights are the fundamental human rights that were enshrined by the United Nations for every human being on the planet nearly 70 years ago. These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote, make their voice heard; and to earn a fair and equal wage. But some men don't feel the same, they believe that women shouldn't be given such privileges, talk more of having important jobs/posts in the society. In fact, these set of men would rather prefer their wives obligation to the society, should be in the kitchen, living room and the other room. Nothing more, nothing less.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari falls in the category of men who strongly believe that women should be sentenced to the kitchen and the other room. Aisha Buhari who happens to be the first lady of Nigeria, finally seems to have accepted her role imposed by her husband to only attend to any political matters and foreign affairs that comes from the kitchen, living room and the other room. Anything outside that won't go down well with Buhari. President Muhammadu Buhari as we all know is not just an unschooled fellow but also a lamebrain military Dictator, who doesn't believe in freedom of speech/expression and he strongly practice Sharia law. Now Sharia law is not favourable to women, because in Sharia law, women are believed to be lesser than men and can't have equal rights as men. Sharia law also encourages domestic violence against women, especially when a husband suspects 'nushuz' (disobedience, disloyalty, rebellion, ill conduct) in his wife.
This just happens to be the case of Aisha Buhari. President Buhari has accused her of 'nushuz' according to Sharia law, thereby punishing and banishing her by reducing her role as the first lady. These were the very words of Aisha Buhari that got her expelled from her role as the first lady of Nigeria by Hitler husband.
"The president does not know 45 out of 50 of the people he appointed and I don't know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years. "Yeah. Not only me in person, because after receiving complaints upon complaints, I decided to tell him. But all the same, a lot of people have been coming on their own and also collectively to tell him that things are not going the way it should when it comes to putting people in certain positions. Because most of those that are occupying positions in agencies, nobody knows them and they themselves don’t know our party manifesto; what we campaigned for; they were not part of us completely. Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position. Knowing what we have campaigned for, only for us to bring people that are busy telling people that they are not politicians but they are occupying seats that were brought in by politicians. This is a huge disrespect for politicians. Knowing that we are just starting, we have not got to 2017, talk less of 2018 and then 2019 for us to go back to the polls; you understand what I mean?"
"It’s the fault of 15.429 million people because they are the ones that brought in the government. It’s their fault! Because they elected him; that’s why he is here. If they can stand firm and strengthen the party and tell everybody that ‘No! We can’t take this; we can’t take you because you are not a card carrying member, you don’t know what we want to achieve within so and so time’. Fifteen point something million people is a huge number that can control a country.
"My advice is to the whole people that voted for him. They should strengthen the party and whoever is not part of the party should not have control over fifteen point something million people. We are in a democracy and not military era, so we have to play it well and leave a legacy. As a person, I have my right to say how I feel about something. If it continues like this, me I am not going to be part of any movement again, because I need to work with the people that we started the journey with collectively so that we can achieve what we want to achieve, so that he would leave a legacy."
"He is yet to tell me ( whether he would contest the 2019 election) but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again." she said on BBC Hausa.
But President Buhari responded by reminding Nigeria’s first lady where her place was: “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.” literally, what Buhari is saying based on his ideology and philosophy on women is that, gender equality shouldn't be given to women. And such claims by president Buhari will only promote more 'violence against women' (VAW) in Nigeria. Buhari generally has no atom of respect for women. This is the same man who ordered the arrest and imprisonment of a Biafran woman, Florence Ugozi, together with her toddler child since 2015, and up till now, she hasn't been released. What was her crime? Her crime was freedom of speech/expression. Florence Ugozi only voiced out and protested against the illegal imprisonment of Nnamdi kanu and because of that she was locked up in prison together with a little child. Please tell me, isn't this a violation of women rights law? Pure heartlessness. Total injustice, intimidated and oppression, that's what Muhammadu Buhari stands for.
Back to Aisha Buhari, according to some reliable source in Aso Rock, Aisha's flare-up on BBC Hausa, strongly goes against the Sharia law her husband strongly practice and also her decision to pick a foreign Media terrace to expose the flares of Buhari's government, has now resulted to rumors of a divorce between the couple. Whatever be the case, Aisha seems to have been intimidated into going into her shells and living in fear, just like her husband has done to every other person who voice out against his government. As the now-famous saying goes, “women’s rights are human rights.” That is to say, women are entitled to all of these rights. But unfortunately, president Buhari has no respect for Human Rights, how then can he have respect for Women's rights?
The Era of Muhammadu Buhari is an eon of tyranny and Dictatorship, backed with Sharia Law. He has no respect for the rule of law, no respect for democracy, no respect for Human Rights and definitely no respect for women's right. So whatever might have happened to Aisha Buhari is just conformation of the Kind of monster Nigerians voted in as their President.

Poor Aisha Buhari! This is First Lady who could use her grace and influence to do more for women in Nigeria and rest of Africa. Her tyrant husband president has caged and locked her up in the other room. So sad indeed!
