It was with grieving heart and tearful eyes but with total submission to God Chukwu Okike Abiama, the family of Ugorji in Umuobodo Diaku Nzerem Ehime Mbano of Imo State- Biafra laid to rest their son, father, uncle and grandfather Late Mazi Ezinwa Sylvester Osuji Ugorji who died at the age of 77yrs after a brief illness. Members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra -IPOB came out en-mass in honour of Mazi Ugorji a bonafied member of IPOB family Okigwe zone. Mazi Benjamin Obi a Family Writers correspondent was also at the event to give it a magnificent coverage.

Late Mazi Ezinwa Sylvester Ugorji was a member of MASSOB during the reign of MASSOB but joined IPOB when MASSOB capitulated. His decision to join IPOB was as a result of his passion for Biafra; while after hearing the resounding and thunderous voice of Kanu on Radio Biafra London was awoken from slumber and re-baptized with the truth propagated by the leader of IPOB and he remained loyal to him even till death. According to information disclosed to me, the family of Late Mazi Ugorji said that their father, instructed them that during his burial (knowing that death is inevitable) the members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra should be accorded their deserved recognition and must be given priority amongst other groups that will be in attendance. His intentions was not unconnected to the fact that his funeral will pave a way and create an avenue for IPOB to further bring the gospel of Biafra to their village in grassroots level which will also serve a way of evangelizing and mobilizing the Biafran people from that part of Biafraland for the cause.

However, IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Chidiebere Echefu the Okigwe Zonal coordinator and under the supreme leadership and command of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu also came out em-mass not only to sympathize with the family of their member and to mourn him, but also to pay the last respect to the dead and to pray for the repose of his gentle soul. The activities of IPOB in the burial ground took an unprecedented twist as they fulfilled the last wish of their member Late Mazi Ugorji; when given the opportunity, brought to the consciousness of the peopl of Umuobodo Diaku Nzerem Ehime Mbano the need to join the struggle for Biafra restoration by establishing IPOB family meetings in their vicinity. Mazi Chidiebere Echefu who took the center stage delivered a mind bugging and magnificent speech while advising the people on how to begin IPOB meeting in all corners of the village, even as he also shared Kanu's views and ideology about Biafra to them so as to motivate, encourage and empower them with veritable information about the Biafra struggle spearheaded by Nnamdi Kanu. In attendance were men, women and children who also greased the occasion in honour of the deceased. Some other IPOB member were also availed the opportunity to also speak to the people.

As the event  gradually came to an end, the eldest man in the family whose name is not in print delivered a vote of thanks on behalf of the Ugorji family as he welcomed and thanked IPOB faithfuls showing an unreserved gratitude in honouring their son, father and member. The event ended gracefully with the departure of IPOB members, other groups and members of the public while the family members of the dead remained for the final funeral rite.
