BIAFRA: UNITED NATIONS CANNOT COMPROMISE INTERNATIONAL LAWS GUIDING SELF-DETERMINATION BECAUSE OF NIGERIA

BIAFRA: UNITED NATIONS CANNOT COMPROMISE INTERNATIONAL LAWS GUIDING SELF-DETERMINATION BECAUSE OF NIGERIA
UN Secretary-General António Guterres

The persistent agitations for the independence of the ancient nation of Biafra can no longer be jettisoned. The United Nations are being held in the juggler to do the anticipated. As the abysmal dysfunctional/ occupational government of Nigeria concocted into existence as conceptualized and endorsed by the British colonial explorers in 1914, is speedily crumbling as the quest for the unfettered restoration of Biafra in the West African sub-region gathers momentum globally, the world body invariably has no other choice than to comply. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) globally, ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has made it unavoidably impossible to all relevant authorities of the United Nations to renege on the openly promulgated laws guiding self-determination of indigenous people groups across the globe.

They cannot be compromised whatsoever, based on the lobbying antics of the Nigerian government. The United Nations are obligated therefore, to fully respect these laws amongst other relevant instruments enacted as charters and conventions that guarantee the rights of every Indigenous people groups on earth their locations notwithstanding, as they legitimately exercise their rights to self-determination based on their collective desire  within the periphery of a geographical territory. It is based on the provision of these relevant conventions and international instruments exercisable as guaranteed, that the people of Biafra throughout the world under the umbrella name of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, are raising petitions to the world body, to duly respect her charters on the rights of Indigenous peoples and mandate the defiant Nigeria government to organize a referendum for Biafrans to clearly decide their future.
IPOB leadership submits petition at the UN headquarters in Geneva

On Friday 14th September 2018, a high-powered diplomatic contingent of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Mazi Alphonsus Uchenna Okafor Mefor - Deputy Director, Mazi Chika Edoziem - Head, Directorate of State and other Special Representatives, submitted well documented/detailed petition to United Nations Headquarters situated in Geneva, Switzerland. As Biafrans have courageously sent in their petition and reception duly acknowledged, which presently is being processed, the United Nations is being meticulously escorted to moral tight end by the people of Biafra where the world body is standing in- between two damning choices. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres amongst other global influential actors are presently faced with these- must-take decisions viz:

(1) The United Nations must have to respect international laws guiding self-determination which she were promulgated, with the Nigerian government as a voluntary signatory which were domesticated in her municipal laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (LFN 1990), even as the Biafran people have duly respected United Nations, European Union and African Union charters. They all call for peaceful agitations on the road to self-determination which  have been maintained over the years of agitations for Biafra Independence amidst horrendous, tyrannical and oppressive responses of the lawless Nigerian government. It is time for the United Nations to fully realize that respect is reciprocal by rewarding the Biafrans with a peaceful referendum. It will interest the United Nations to know that the regime of tyranny adopted by the Nigerian government against the people of Biafra due to agitations for independence, has gravely resulted in the senseless killings and affliction of terminal injuries to thousands of agitators respectively.

There are yet forced disappearances of unarmed, innocent Biafran civilians including the leader of the peaceful IPOB separatist movement, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his aged parents since 14th of September 2017, when the Nigerian army officers murderously invaded their home. These were precipitated by the instructions of the Nigerian government, with hundreds of Biafrans yet extra-judicially incarcerated in different prison facilities across the country till date. The United Nations must expeditiously appreciate the respect to civility and peaceful approach being adopted by the people of Biafra which is unprecedented and unparalleled in the history of the African continent especially when confronted with brutal dictatorships as exemplified by the Nigerian government against Biafrans since 1967.

(2)  The second option facing the United Nations is for her to descend into irredeemable infamy by compromising her international laws in order to pacify and service the ego of the fantastically corrupt Nigerian government which has desperately been running from pillar to post, seeking ways to truncate the Biafra Independence project. This is done out of frustration by her sharing of oil wells and oil laden vessels to morally bankrupt nations of the world under the guise of cementing bilateral relationships and non-existent defense pact. The United Nations can never alter the provision of her own laws because Nigeria is involved. That will be the greatest mistake ever to be recorded in modern/global history. The world body is under unavoidable obligation to wade into the Biafra issue and clinically proffer solutions through the instrumentality of a referendum. But should the United Nations foot-drag in conducting Biafra referendum, she should then take into cognisance, her creation of a very dangerous precedence which certainly will be a time bomb awaiting explosion before the global community as that will irresistibly heat up the polity within the African continent over the Biafran question.

Based on the successful submission of the petition to the United Nations Headquarters based in Geneva, Switzerland, by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Biafrans the world over, are really expecting that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) amongst other relevant departments, to conscientiously speed up the processing of the referendum petition as tendered for a pronouncement of an undelayed referendum date. Biafran people are equally placing the European Union and the African Union authorities on notice as to compel the United Nations to duly accord respect to the collective aspirations of the people as they have unprecedentedly exhibited maximum civility in Africa on their tortuous road to self-determination. The people are also calling on the United States of America, United Kingdom, Russia, Israel, Germany, France and many other civilised nations of the world, to prevail on the United Nations to understand that Biafra referendum remains the only antidote required to restore peace, tranquility, development and economic growth within the continent of Africa.
